It's Quiet the £250m return

But it isn’t really how we reached the pinnacle in the first place or stayed there for so long. I’m more than happy to follow a similar path and build a new team, make good players better see where it takes us.Don’t really care what or how other teams do it.As for the media again couldn’t care less doesn’t affect my life.
I get this but we have to admit that window with Bobby manc where we signed silva yaya kolorov and boateng was it was mega and was pretty much the real start of our dominance. We went and got 4 proper players, I know boateng didn’t work out but he was a top player. Liverpool seem to have gone down that route this year

Lost me with ‘Pool!’ (First word).
Liver 6 points ahead of us despite having a negative XG vs XGA on the season lol. Liverpool have been hugely disappointing but very lucky. They've scored 8 goals from 3.4xg, and conceded 4 from 4.02xga. Expected points sits at 3.54. This Liverpool team looks miles off last seasons. A wonder goal from Sozbo against Saka/Havertz/Saliba-less Arsenal in a game they created nothing. A 95' winner against 10 man Newcastle who absolutely battered them. An 86' winner against a weaker Bournemouth team after blowing a 2-0 lead at Anfield. And a loss to Palace in the Community Shield.

We've been very poor and even our expected points sits at 5.3. A whole other discourse on this forum if it was us that lucked into the 9 points. We didn't have a preseason. Its surely been a weird period for our squad with all the senior players being shipped off. Huge distractions. Lots of new lads that will grow in confidence and ability. We will be fine lads. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we went on from here to win 5 straight titles again. Unfortunately for others, we are inevitable...

So in essence you’re saying if your aunty had bollocks she’d be your uncle? Doesn’t your post highlight the issue with xg? They’re expected not guaranteed. How is a wonder goal luck? He didn’t shin that free kick in did he? Nothing inevitable about us at minute I’d say.

Liverpools window is already 6 points ahead of ours. And that's before adding the second best CF in the league. And that's with playing Arsenal AND Newcastle away in the bag.

Plus if Spurs offered nearer the 80 million we valued Sav at, he'd be gone.

Rodri out all last season and Nico still struggled to nail a starting shirt speaks volumes to me.

Liverpool are playing in a similar manner as we did at the start of last season where they are getting the points but they are not playing well. It's unsustainable. They have been incredibly average in the opening 3 games and if they carry on as they are they will have a period where they drop points.

Their expected points is 3, and they are massively overachieving expected goals.

Now, you can take those stats however you like, but as a follower of those stats over the last few years I know for sure that over the course of a season they usually match up to actual stats give or take the odd exception. So as a long term indicator they are pretty good at predicting what is around the corner.

Point is, Liverpool will not carry on winning games if they carry on performing as they are.

Bit weird, but hey if you think it gives you credibility….

Think Silva was pretty much the level Cherki is obvious ability can he adapt to the PL wait and see, Silva did.Toure was well known but Barcelona didn’t want him we developed him but was he a better prospect than Reijnders when he arrived ,not really. Same with Kolarov and Ait Nouri, Boateng became very good but struggled when he came to us , Khusonov like, maybe ?
Not saying the players now will become what they became, but nothing to say the won’t either.

Not sure I’d agree with your evaluation but all about opinions. Yaya for me was proven to be a better player than Rjeinders and yaya at city was incredible. Not sure Rjeinders is the same player or position as him tbf to Rjeinders. Guess we will see. I like cherki the most out of all our signings, I think he really does look a talent. Shame he’s out for so long.

All this XG is utter bollox.

Haaland should have had 3 goals last weekend and mustered 1.

The only stat that matters is the 3 points.

We've seen us sneak last minute winners in the past. It's a sign of a team that wants to win. It isn't down to luck when a team scores half a dozen late goals a season.

You can undress the scouse team as much as you want. They will be up there this season. And will be the team to beat!!

The jury's out for me on all our signings. As always the proof will be in the pudding. As a unit the whole team needs to improve a fair bit from what I've witnessed so far.
Almost. The proof is in the eating, as in…

The proof of the pudding is in the eating!

Correct. The results don't equal the performances, if they carry on playing like they have been they won’t win much but they could improve and they have the points in the bag.

There’s a good deal of luck in football and Liverpool are having the most right now. Newcastle the least.

Understat is a good guide and Liverpool more than most will understand they need to improve.

Early days though let’s see what the figures say after 10 games same with City and everyone else.

League titles ain't won on XG it's won with points on the board.

XG is a load of absolute bollocks.

I don’t understand all this x- factor nonsense. I’m a bit old fashioned in that you score or you miss. We missed and messed up in two games and have dropped 6 points

What is the injury and how long is he out? He’s injured barely having played.

What path are we talking about? I am curious to hear how it differs from what Liverpool and Arsenal are doing now. Considering the players that our achievements were built on were not unknown players (bar Vincent).

My point was more what we are doing currently isn't much different to what we did to build the oiginal winning team, while liverpool throw record fees at current big names Isak and Wirtz with no guarantee it makes them better than wht we 've done.
