Bayern yes psg maybe but neither have the finance in place, barcelona not a chance. We aren’t that far from winning it because we aren’t the crap team full of crap players you think we are.
Who said are players are crap, you words not mine.

I said we are a long way from wining the Champions League , EVEN if we had Messi in this side.

We concede goals for fun against poor opposition, Bayern would rip us a new one at will.

Absolute crap, Kolo Toure was finished when he joined us, terrible signing, Johnson was average, Savic a young kid with great potential, Bellamy I agree would possibly get on the bench but more likely be trying to have a fight with Pep.
Kolo was not the kolo of Arsenal I agree 100% but he never made errors like Stones has last season - the collapse vs Villa in cup final? Do you think he would have defended like Garcia at weekend? I’m not a great Bellamy fan honestly I’m not but his work rate and fight would be a god send in this squad and he’d look better because he’d be with better players. Johnson was a decent player for us imho. Savic became a very good defender my point was that he again would get in before Garcia/Stones because he would actually be fit, aggressive and defend. The post I was responding to was someone claiming those players were disasters for City bought by Cook. Tbf they were all better buys than many of Txixi’s efforts that’s my point. None as disastrous as Bony or Mangala for instance. And none cost an outrageous fee.

Savic, Johnson, Bellamy and Kolo would all get in this team. Kolo better than stones and Garcia. So is Savic. Bellamy better than Jesus or Mahrez. Johnson the paedo was a decent player for us and a big part of first prem win. Boateng was a class player and proved it god knows what went on with him but again he’s better than Stones and Garcia so he’s get in this team.
Goodness me. When anger clouds judgement, this is the result.

We defeated ourselves yet again, that was no masterclass by Brenda.

I really hope we have got this humiliation out of our system, get motivated and go on a run similar to after Everton defeat and the 14 game continous run after Newcastle defeat.

It looks tough.... But we will be out of the title race already if we don't buckle up!

It's not even our press which is the fundamental problem, even if the intensity of it isn't what is once was.

The problem is now the press from the other teams.

They have stopped doing it to us, allowing our backline to retain the ball and not create a spare man.

Rodgers admitted as much. Save their energy for the breakdown and hit hard and fast.

Stands to reason, our defence have been allowed to come out fifty yards from goal.

The fundamental reason also why Ederson is never in the game now, apart from picking the ball out of the net.

Our system won't change, but that's the nub of it.

Same with any decent big-hitting boxer, just be wary of their best shot and stay in the fight.

Totally agree, and why we have to adapt. We can no longer take the same approach to condense a team in there own half

We need to start bring teams onto us and into our own half.

Yes the same way may work against some of the fodder, but even those teams still manage to create chances - just a lack of quality lets them down in the counter or finishing

We have lost that aura of fear we used to give to the opposition before even stepping onto the pitch. The players confidence gets knocked when we concede, something that never used to happen

This is a huge season for different reasons

We have to get in the trenches and learn how to defend and fight for the cause, back to basics and then build up some momentum.

Watched a bit of the Liverpool game last night with there energy levels so high with klopp not going to play key player a in league cup game cup with the referees on there side with var on there side they are going to piss the league again.

So top four and any trophy for us this season will be a cracking season.

Didn't watch it, do they keep their inhalers pitch side?

Yes, that's it. So to commit their players and create the extra man we have to push further and further forwards, making us more and more likely to be hit on the break.

Everyone knows the counter is coming sooner or later, so there is a lot of pressure on us not to lose the ball, and when someone does, you're doing all your defending running backwards with a high likelihood of being left 1:1.

The irony is that Pep's whole gameplan is geared towards creating 1:1 in attack, but the system creates guaranteed 1:1 chances in defence.

What ever they are doing or not doing there energy levels game in game out so high but waste time talking about it it what it is! Klopp at Dortmund has his team like that for 5/6 years with those energy levels.

that type of performance/result has been coming for a while however - defensively we have been weak for a while and Wolves could/should have scored at least 3 possibly more. Its not just the defence but the midfield as well.

any team that has fast paced strikers and play ont he break always cause us trouble...Liverpool, Leicester, Wolves last season, Utd (they are shit but have the pace int he channels and upfront to break on us ) - we will see this mor and more from teams....Pep has to adapt and find a way to prevent it.

At presnt his desire and decisions to play our fullbacks so high looks a poor one - they expose us in the channels and they are offering nothing going forward - a bit more pragmatism wouldnt go a miss and find other ways to provide width and attack.

The press isnt working either - our forwards arent aggressive enough and our midfield doesnt press either besides KDB

We need to have a lot more energy and we just dont get it from the likes of Rodri, Gundogan, Mendy, Zinchenko and mahrez

Loads of good points I’d agree with there. In particular the fact that it’s beyond the defence where critical issues lie. We could have livarpool’s back 4 and we’d have problems, because of Rodri for example. I think others in midfield like Foden do press in terms of his energy, he’s just not very good at it when he gets there, whereas KDB will engage opposition players and sometimes actually win the ball back in the tackle high up the pitch. What did for us at the weekend was a perfect storm of clinical finishing from the opposition, poor defensive technique, lack of pressing, and crucially, lack of opportunities created by us.
Whilst some of these are longer term issues and “it’s been coming” etc, I’m not sure that is true of the latter point, and so that’s why I think there’s a degree of overreaction going on.

Creating some more space in opposition boxes the hallmark of the many telling goals we score inside the box in the past might improve once Bernardo , Jesus and Kun return albeit we make it much easier for sides to defend using the rope a dope method to use some sweet science nomenclature.

think we will get a lb or do anymore business this week mate?

Insofar as City need "legitimising", I suspect that the 17/18 and 18/19 seasons, where we were the greatest side British football has ever seen, "legitimised" the club. A 34 year old Messi, if anything, smacks to me of trying to associate ourselves with someone else's greatness.

The standard of player we sign compared to Real, Barca, Bayern etc says otherwise.
