I know the dad will have his best interests at heart but he seems to have taken on the role of a bridge between the two. Making the right noises and making sure both views are represented in the press. Before he arrived it was deadlock. Potentially they could be talking in next day or so.

It seems to have been Barca taking the initiative with contract offers and lectures on on the release clause but this could be the way it's briefed.
