The problem is he will be wasting one more year at barca. He already has given 2/3 years more than he should have given. He will not win anything next year as well. No chance of winning ballon d or as well. As he said he is not happy footballing wise to stay at barca.
2017 was the time to leave, we made our move, he was 30, still young enough to adapt to a new culture and league. He rejected that opportunity.

33/34 is to old even for one of the great's, we have seen that with David Silva, still a wonderful talent but no longer physically capable of doing what he wanted to do.

The premier league is a brutal league, the schedule is tough, a game every 3 days at a very high level.

I have just watched the interview and found it very honest and Goal can be very proud of that scoop.

First time I have listened to Lionel properly and I am left feeling enormous respect to the man .

If you observe his body language and consider his consistent change from one tense to another , I believe he is appealing to the club to let him go . The mere fact that he tells us even his own family pleaded with him not to leave and yet despite that incredible pressure, he decided it was time to move on speaks volumes to me.

His mind us made up . To remain at Barca suits no one.

One thing that is a bit odd in all of this is he constantly refers to making the president aware of his intentions to quit throughout last season, was he conveying that to City because if he was , we did an unbelievable job of keeping that under the radar.

No doubt our club have their limitations on this deal financially however timing is everything in life and we should pursue this deal publicly right now. Let’s crank this up because this lad is worthy of our fight to get him.If we want to throw punches at the elite clubs , do it right fuckin now and show everyone we mean business.

Not sure SM or KAM will do this but we bloody well should because this lad Is desperate to join our club and has told the world so , we can’t leave him hanging.

I think after him saying about his family being destroyed by the prospect of him moving I honestly can't see why he would take his kids away from school and friends and his wife away from where she considers her home for the sake of 2 years at City. It just makes no sense. He will retire at Barca because once a new president is elected he will sign a one or two year extension. I don't think It's the "I couldn't take the club I love to court" excuse though as he seems pretty happy to demand leaving and tear them a new one publically. Plus he knows Barca fans support him in this scenario. All smoke and mirrors from a man who cannot bear the thought of upsetting his kids and wife. I fully understand why he has decided to stay. I do not think this is all Barca are bad guys though. I think he has swallowed his pride for the sake of his family, not because he is being "held hostage".

That is certainly just as valid a take as the political move to push the board this is made out to be.

I have been really unhappy at work so much so that I just walked out, what I would have given for another employer to offer me another job, I would have bitten their hand of.
It does make me wonder how unhappy Messi really is. A very rich man so unhappy yet he wont buy himself out of contract, or risk going to court. A man who is prepared to be unhappy for another 9 months just to get more money, how much money do you need. They say money csnt buy happiness, seems to messi money is more important than happiness, if that's so it's very sad. I would have thought he has enough money to help him be happy by now.
Something doesn't add up to me, has he played City ?

If his wife and kids loved him and respected all he’s done for them, they’d support his wish to move for a few years.
We’ve been hoodwinked. Pep and the Spafia have been totally done over here and it’s distracted us from signing those quality players Chelsea have bought up.
For me this ends the final point of the Spafia being here, there is no Barcelona left that we’d want here now. Move them on, change direction. Right now it also feels like Pep can go. Does Messi respect Pep so much that he calls him personally and begs to join, but all along it’s just a game? Fuck you Lionel.
This season is going to be very flat. we’re weaker with Dave and Leroy leaving & we haven’t bought anyone to inspire the squad to push on to more.
There's been some absolute shite posted on here in the last few days and I his is right up there with the worst of them

The best transfer we can do with Barca is buy up some of their debt! Tebas would explode, if behind the scenes Barca debt was being controlled by Abu Dhabi investment companies owned by Khaldoon or Mansour !

You don't help out your rivals in any way, that's why we should not consider giving any fee or players for Messi and help get Barca out of this mess.

the issue I have with his level of unhappiness is that he has the power to fix it and will not do it. He doesn't need our help to get him out of the situation, he is in control but will not press the button.

I can see Messi sat at a table with a contract in front of him, desperate to leave Barca until he picks up the pen and he just won't \ can't sign it, he cannot make that final step. We need to just accept he cannot leave and never will

the financial side of this deal worked if he comes on a free, if there is a fee in the region of what is being banded around then I start to get nervous of the financials, PB says it can be done, PR didn't think it is viable. Terms saying we have a creative way of doing it don't inspire confidence regardless of who the club have employed as if by some miracle he did sign all hell would break loose in our direction

after all that has gone on does anyone think he would commit to moving on a free in Jan, do people think he will just say yes I'm coming? All that will happen if this ever drags on until Jan is we will have a month of him signing this deal as excuse after excuse comes out at their end and the transfer window shuts with him still a Barca player.

disclaimer: If he does sign I'll be over the bluemoon heading to the shop to get my shirt with Messi 10 on the back. That would make even the 3rd kit look good
At least with the release of the Rag kit, the 3rd kit is no longer the worst kit in the league
