Will be kinda disappointed if we end up getting him having paid a large fee even if it’s cheap for Messi given that he can just buy out his contract for a lot less

They would save a fortune on wages and his bonus payment. We would get him now.

win, win..

Oh well. If this is actually over then at least we know we have the money for Mbappe or Haaland.
There is that. If City win the league next season which is quite possible if we sort the defence out we will be very well placed to make 1 addition a year at the very top level. Messi's wages would have been a very big pill.

If it isn't over, what even is the next move? Messi's camp are surely done now? Is there anything that can change this? I think its pretty obvious Bartomeu is stubborn enough to put his fingers in his ears and go 'la la la la it's over'

Maybe we are waiting for a Barcelona coup and are hopeful of deal when the interim president is in place

And how did that tactic pan out? Ah yes, he’s still a Barça player who won’t go anywhere unless a club pays some overinflated price for a 33 year old in the last year of his contract. Barça don’t care if he’s unhappy or wants a move, they have him on a tight leash as proven yesterday.

Each day that goes by their position gets weaker. I'm not saying we will get him this window ...though as Tolmie says it's probably not over for sure yet.

I don't get how anyone can suggest City or Messi could have done things differently that would have had a different outcome.

This is what you get when a club is run politically rather than commercially. If money doesn't do the trick you go after their reputation which is what Messi has done.
