Point number 2 nails it.

Would we, and the club accept one season of mediocrity to bed some youngsters into the team. Coming on for 5 or 10 minutes is a pointless exercise. They need to start. Only with decent minutes on the pitch will they progress (or we find out they are not good enough).

Not this one again!

There are clubs who bring through young players becsuse they have run out of players.

There are clubs who win stuff & still get young players on the pitch.

If Jayden Braaf came on v Aston Villa with 5 mins to go, skinned 3 players & scored, we then potentially have another squad player for the season.

That's how it worked for City for 100 years.

We can't do that, but we can start a kid who can't defend, at cb in a Champs League qf, when the whim suits.

When did the thought of a future replacement for Fernandinho & Kompany, first enter your head ?

Was it the same as me: I thought about it several years ago ?

Who is supposed to take care of it & how well have the people involved managed it, so far ?
Entering my head or yours is irrelevant .I'll leave it to the proffessionals who've not done a bad job so far.

News coming out that Mbappe is being difficult with PSG regarding a contract renewal and both him and Neymar will be entering their last years of their contracts next season.

Anyone else think that if we get Messi on a free next season then that'll give us a prime opportunity to get Neymar as well, especially with him signing for Puma? All these things happening now can't be coincidence, right?

I'm specifically not talking about the funds for Messi, as I said in the post.

If we'd signed Messi the requirements for other attacking players would likely change.

Therefore, any deals for attacking players we were looking at may have been put on hold or cancelled, due to Messi.
That's not what you said bud unless I'm having delusions (a distinct possibility at this moment admittedly).

Not sure Messi at 34 is a good idea and Neymar I would not touch with a barge pole.

Mbappe is the one to try and go all out for, but sadly I don't think we have a chance.

I think the same.

Aguero still not fit. That knee injury is no joke, especially at his age and the explosive way he plays.

At times we'll be playing though the season with one recognised striker.

I don't think there is an easy answer to Aguero tbf though. I can't see one.

We should fix the other positions so the team is stronger to cope with it imo.

An Aguero replacement would either have to be an established player or an up & coming one. There aren't really any established players to replace Aguero.

The nearest one stand out short term fix would be Aubamayang, if he hasn't signed his contract. If we are still hunting Messi, we won't go for him.

Top prospect is Haaland, who we would have to overpay by about 50/100% & bribe Fatty, to get (I would just do it but City won't ). Otherwise we are just shelling out huge money for players who are not nearly as good.

Other signings would be young unknowns like Jesus was, but they wouldn't be ready to play.
