He is literally saying whoever can play or fill in certain areas,like he said last time after Mendy's injury that Laporte can play there, Zinchenko can play there etc etc. Doesn't mean there's no shortage there. It's really hard to see how he'll possibly let him go. January 1st contract announcement seems like the best bet IMO.
