Nope.
Nope, nope and yes, because Pep has built a squad that can't play how we need to play to have the success of 17/18 and 18/19, and the way Pep envisages us playing with this squad isn't as successful, as last year proved.
Panic :-| I'm right pep and the board are not as smart as me.So what does that say about the whole project then?
Some deep psychological analysis of Pep here !!, lots of "ifs" in this measured post. If I felt like this I would leave Bluemoon, clean my hard drives of any and all City references, burn the City books, dvds, shirts and references to our great and varied 125 year history. I would repaint any blue walls, only venture outdoors when it was dark (blue moon nights excepted) and ask my family to never use the words City, Blue, Pep and never claim football is enjoyable. Ultimately I would study ostrich behaviour and bury my head in the sand until someone screaming "ding dong the witch is gone" tells me that our calamitous club has been rescued from impending doom by appointing Baconface as manager with Big Sam as technical director and world domination is assured. Thankfully I don't feel like this, so I'll continue to do what I have done for 55 years of highs and lows and much mediocrity, never analysing why, just mostly enjoying following City and the inevitable roller coaster ride. Blueparrot's comment is well worth considering. He isn't enjoying it himself anymore. Would be amazed if he isn’t off in May. His body language and demeanour post lockdown tell their own story. And that is a rotten, self-destructive situation as we saw before with Pellegrini.
We are Manchester City FC, not Pep FC. We will be here long after he has gone.
My club is better than somewhere people visit on a global ego trip or to tick a box.
If as looks likely we fail again this year would you consider two league titles in five seasons - and a worse CL performance than his predecessor - to be a good return, given the level of investment, support and the optimal conditions he was presented with? Not sure I would agree with that.
He lost his mother to Covid, maybe that is still upsetting, but you crack on as your more a body language expert than meHe isn't enjoying it himself anymore. Would be amazed if he isn’t off in May. To be fair I would think 99% of players and management of all clubs are not enjoying it at this present time.He lost his mother to Covid, maybe that is still upsetting, but you crack on as your more a body language expert than me
Good pointsTo be fair I would think 99% of players and management of all clubs are not enjoying it at this present time.
Football and all sport is about emotions and without fans inside stadiums the game is nothing.
It's difficult to watch on tv , I would think playing in an empty stadium must be extremely difficult and far from enjoyable.
I fear Liverpool will win it again this year. If they do they will have won the CL and lost the league by a point. Then won two titles. That would sadly eclipse what Pep did.
So what do you exactly expect?
Domination is not going to happen in this league no matter how much we spend.
The only way someone is going to dominate this league for years is to get once in life time squad somehow.
People really need to be careful, because be careful what you wish for.
Guardiola was the biggest reason for our success. Not our squad. This squad is expensive, but its nothing special.
