Care to share your insight as to what you would have done

Be a bit more ruthless and clear (in a professional manner obviously) to any player who is not a part in Pep’s plans. He doesn’t trust Zinchenko at leftback or midfield since he’s playing Mendy, Aké and Cancelo ahead of him, yet AGAIN Zinchenko wants to stay and fight for his place. Second time in two(?) years.

I doubt he would’ve want to stay if the club spelled it out for him. It seems the club were not clear the last time, and not now either. Of course the player says he wants to stay, but in reality decisions like Zinchenko’s affect our ambitions to improve the squad, for instance getting Tagliafico in if he left.

On the other hand, it’s only City’s mistake to hand him a 4-5 year contract if they shortly after decides he’s not cut out playing leftback for us in the long run.

I’m very satisfied with our window in general, but not addressing all problem areas in our squad is just annoying. I just hope it won’t come back to bite us.

If what's being said about Stones and Zinchenko wanting to stay and fight for their places is true then I commend that attitude. People will no doubt have their snide comments and theories as to why that is but the fact of the matter is both players will be acknowledging that they aren't currently first options but are willing to work at changing that. Showing that kind of desire for my club will always be something I appreciate.

I think that's a fair enough stance to take but there's a bit more nuance involved than that.

Zinchenko's been a good servant, but his career trajectory has potentially been stalled by sticking around to be our back up left back. The kid has enough talent to be a first choice central midfielder in his natural position, where he plays for his national side, but would rather play 20 odd games at left back only when players ahead of him go down. Whilst that might speak to how much he loves the club, it might also speak to lack of ambition depending on how you look at it. It's also clear the club would prefer to move him on so we can bring in a player who actually specializes in that position.

Stones is a bit more straightforward. We've seen he has the ability to be first choice level for us if not for injuries and personal issues. If he's sorted his personal issues, being fourth choice centrehalf could work out for him.

They're both perfectly entitled to stay and fight for a place, but I think zinchenko refusing to look at offers doesn't really do us, or him in the long run, any favours.

if the other lads come back soon enough and can stay fit i`m sure the club may look at things in january?
Think we have a few (4) to do by end of next summer, a striker for Aguero, replace Fernandinho, probably with Luiz , a left back for Zinchenko, possibly Gundogan out maybe Auaor? Would be nice to get one or two done in January left back would be good to get done.
