Seems like Bartomeu just doesn't want to be the guy that lost messi and is prioritising that over the financial health of barca or the potential ugly court battle. No the transfer is about the CFG and not just us.

He gets a 5 year contract with a percentage in the CFG on completion.

He signs for MCFC for 2 years , then goes to NYCFC and the MLS for 3 years.

There is some debate on the length of time with each club ie maybe 3 years with us , then 2 years NYCFC

So lets assume that Messi, his father and their lawyers have this wrong and he isn't able to walk away from his contract.
Do we just wait a year and then sign him up next year on reduced terms / contract length or do we think this is now or never?
Personally if i came down to waiting a year or getting him now but having to pay £100+ I think i would wait.
