Yea me too. Felt that's where the final was lost Saturday. We have some great technical footballers, but Chelsea's pace and athleticism won them that game. An injection of pace in this team is needed
I was thinking this while watching the final too,
If you reflect on even a couple of years ago compared to the team nowadays we are really lacking athleticism.
Losing sane, Kun, dinho even silva and mendy to an extent. The players we now have in them roles just don’t have the same sort of devastating pace, we’ve done excellently to adapt, but as seen this season we’ve not scored so many goals on the break, tbh not as many goals in general, and there’s been a lot less impetuous on playing down the wings and causing chaos with quick transitions.

This is the main reason I believe sterling’s looked so bad this year, that same player he was is still in him, the way we’ve played this season just hasn’t suited him as a footballer at all.

I don’t feel like we personally have any players at the moment that terrify the defenders when running at them, pace scares defences. I’m worried about the kane signing because he’s not quick and I don’t see him being a game changer, he’s a very good technical player that will score a lot of goals. With haaland he’s just a different animal that can make something happen from nothing on his own; a type of player I think we lack at the moment

How many years has Aymeric got left on his contract? There’s no way that we should entertain any offers under £70m. Covid or not, look at what the rags paid for that fridge.

If no one pays the asking price then he has to stay and fight for his place. We need four top centre backs. Laporte will have his chance to force his way back into the side

Some good debates on here this morning. Personally, IF no one was to leave I’d keep the squad exactly the same with the only addition being a world class striker. We certainly don’t need back up signings - we’ve plenty of back up players in the squad already plus some crackers coming through the academy. Any signing would have to be a first XI starter. So if we have 150-200 mil available, I can see us going huge on Kane or Haaland. Then like others have said, if players want to leave then we will replace those with the funds we get from sales. We certainly don’t need to have an overhaul like some are suggesting. Just look at what we have done this season

Haalands a counter attacking player with little technique he wouldnt fit either just like sterling.Kane for me is the better fit.grealish is linked because pep likes to retain possesion if you put fast players wide with less technique we wont keep the ball as well.Maybe a young player fast but technical of the bench is the answer thats where kayky could be involved .It is going to be interesting to see what unfolds no doubt.

We'll agree to disagree and leave it there. With Pep in charge, I am not afraid of anyone leaving. He's the best coach in the world IMO, and will continue to win trophies at a stupid rate for us.

Best coach in the world, I agree, and yet he can’t install any composure and better decision making into Sterling. Kind of defeats your argument.

Kane, Grealish and Rice.

£280m should just about do it ;)

*my preference

*whoever wants to leave can do so, regardless of reputation.
Do you think Rice is a possibility or is that just who you’d like? Not heard anything regarding Rice being a possibility

Think we'd want at leat £75 80mill for Sterling. Think of the 2 Jesus more likely to go if anyone, guess we'd take about £60 mill plus add ons for him.

I feel sorry for Jesus. He's incredibly committed to making it work with us and put it all out there when he came on at the weekend.

I would much rather have Gabby around the club and playing wide left than Sterling if that was ever the choice to be had.

We need Gabby more than ever next season because our new striker can't play every game and I see enough from Jesus to know he will still score goals.

Rice.....where has that name come from or is that just prefernce

Boussma (lad from Brighton)
