Exactly. Messi is calling the shots, so it still beggars belief he is playing right now with no contract already sorted at Barca.

It only makes sense if he has decided to join another club on July 1 or agrees to a Barca extension prior to it.

Doesn't sound as though Barca have certainty.

We play our second league game of the season 2 days after this vs Norwich.
If this is true, its a massive exhibition game and we’re not playing for pre season fitness reasons

Don't want Ramos but kinda makes sense to round out the numbers if Laporte leaves. Replacing him is a big job and signing Ramos gives them a year of breathing room to figure out the next big CB spend.

Would just prefer Laporte not to leave though. CB was finally set for years

One thing about City is we run a very tight ship. We don’t leak, we brief when we’re being used by agents but other than that very little is put out by City. We obviously can’t control the leaks from agents or other clubs.

As a result we’ve generally had 2 types of transfers, the heavily touted ones where the world and his wife know exactly what we’re doing (Sterling, De Bruyne, Stones, Walker, Ake and Torres amongst many). Then there’s the other rarer kind, nothing not a whisper then he’s signed (Danilo, Bernardo, Dias).

This summer Grealish, if he comes will be the first kind. After that who knows?

that last line is very interesting....FFPanother battle ground....can they afford to keep Messi by the sounds of it......and the answer seems to be no.
A series of circumstances to stay.......
Not cotemplating a no doesnt mean it wont happen
Better money which Barca dont have
Barca to buy better players so Messi can see them become competative again ----- yet again they have no money

The only element of truth in that is that its not easy to keep Messi
