As I have been with all City's signing this window I'll be "Meh" when they do eventually sign... Not because there arnt special players, but each and every one has dragged on for so fucking long I'm losing interest and getting very bored by it all very quickly. I think City for some reason have missed a trick with all these, the faffing about has caused any wow factor that could have been to not happen! We could have kept things quiet and then announced we have signed "x" player and we would have all gone wow, but every one has just gone on forever meaning it's more a sigh of relief than excitment when they do sign.

That's a very blinkered view, nmf.

EVERY club we deal with attempts to have our pants down with the price, in order to minimalize this City have played hardball as much as possible, resulting in the clubs eventually compromising so that we generally have signed the players at a fair price.
fact mate.

You're probably right mate but I just cant get past the fact of how other teams are conducting business, Liverpool today for example with Poulson. Why not just go in and say "heres our offer you have 48hours to agree or we walk" or words to that effect? It takes us weeks to complete a deal when other clubs are done and dusted (or at least its kept out the media). Either someone is shite at negotiating or not playing hard ball enough and giving far to much time to selling clubs (imo). It's frustrating when it draggs on for four month (Milner). Just my opinion and not right or wrong either way.

I agree with Rammy, it would be too easy and would set a very bad precedent if City were to simply pay whatever the selling club asked for, we would always struggle to put things back into prospective.

Just because we have loads of dosh doesnt mean we cant be shrewd in our dealings. This is a business and needs to be run as one, i say a big well done to all at City involved in the negotiations, pleased with what we have so far and if we get those others that we are after then we cant complain, i dont care if it takes until close of business on transfer deadline day.

Thanks to everyone at City who is working their butts off and roll on Saturday!!

Spanish newspaper Marca are reporting that Manchester City are set to continue their big spending ways with a €40 million bid for AC Milan defender Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian - who was part of Dunga's World Cup squad - has been impressive with Milan since joining from Fluminense in 2008.

His form as allegedly attracted interest from Real Madrid as well as City, but Marca seem convinced he could be heading to the Manchester side because of their superior spending power (there's a sentence you couldn't have dreamt of a few years ago).

However, City have said already this summer they won't pay over the odds for any player. But they could be forced to pay huge amounts of money if hey want their man, with the 25-year-old youngster having at least another 15 good years ahead of him at the Milan geriatric club.

Whatever City may be forced to pay though, he's surely got to be better value than Joleon Lescott?

Are City fans happy with this link? Would you like to see him at Eastlands? Let us know below...

The only impact that matters is what the players eventually do on the pitch.

The rest of football will want City to fail so don't expect great write-ups.

As an aside I am getting uncomfortable with the amount of public dissent from players such as Given, Hart and Bellamy. And Ireland is unhappy as well. Not good to hear.
they all want to be part of something they can't have. so they let it be known that they believe they are not rejected.

Fair enough mate, worth bearing in mind though that the dippers wouldn't have much more to offer whereas when it's City the other clubs know we have unlimited cash so can attempt to take the piss.

Dont get me wrong, at no point do I agree with paying whatever, but I do think we waste too much time.
Milner: We say here we offer £24m max, take it or leave it. Give them 48hours and then walk if not accepted.
Balotelli: Heres £21m take or leave it....
Etc etc
But City tend to drag it out and look daft in the media, it also then gives ammo of "City were snubbed" if after weeks a player doesnt sign for us. Go in and take control, if a player is available then it's in our hands as the selling club obviously need the cash. Tbf I'm just losing patience with it all now and just want Saturday to come.

Just to add: If the above was to happen a few times then clubs would not fuck about when we come calling. They would realise that we would walk leaving them with an unsettled player.

WHAT?

To be fair to City, we've kept thing on the quiet. Having the money makes it difficult as clubs are holding us to ransom. The fact is, the longer these clubs hold out, the less time they have to spend the money recieved, so it's in their interest to do a deal ASAP. We're the ones injecting money into the system. The argument about getting everything done in preseason is a strong one in that it means everyone can settle in properly, and then anyone surplus to requirements can be given the opportunity to move on.

Yeah sure there's been a lot of stuff in the papers about who we're (potentially) going to sign, but all the leaks have come from external sources (i.e. the selling clubs side, not ours). The only comments from City have been when Mancini was asked directly in the press conference before the Valencia game about Milner/Balotelli.
