Andouble said:no one answered my question earlier in the thread about Henderson so I will re-post it hoping someone can inform me. Since tolmie started a thread about him a month or so ago, last week was the first Sunderland game I was able to watch (vs Spurs) and he did not play well at all:
is Henderson similar to Michael Johnson in terms of play? Is he box-to-box? Attacking? Wiki says attacking but only 1 goal to his credit (against us)
I can't see him getting regular playing time here. Lot of competition for that midfield if it were he, AJ, NDJ, Milner, Yaya, Barry, Silva, and by January maybe even MJ.
He's started all 12 league games according to my stats. No goals this year.
Was first rumoured to be in line for a senior cap this time last year. Instead he served his time in the u-21's. He was left out of the squad announced today; it's expected that he will feature in Capello's 'experimental' squad, due to be announced after this weekend's games. Same goes for Phil Jones and Andy Carroll.
This might be of interest; the u21 game vs Romania. Henderson scored and took the man of the match award;

His style is similar to MJ, which does put some doubt in my mind over MJ's future.... but I think this lad has a bit more pace, he can play out on the right of a four, no problem.
He's got a reputation as a smart, technically accomplished midfield player. I wouldn't worry about him starting games. We bemoan the lack of pace in the trio, this kid might offer something a bit different. What with the FA cup, and the Europa, there will be plenty of chances in the second half of the season.
