It'snow joke. Again!

I had 12 kids to get at the bus stop by 6.45am
I knew (as the bus was late) I needed to put socks on.... rest of my body in a City t shirt and shorts was fine.... just the toes were cold

How many of the 12 kids got eaten by an alligator or a giant anaconda? I'd sooner have a bit of snow and no carnivores sneaking up on me!

Some US states are getting -40 degrees.
Ohio has closed the uni for a couple of days and issued this warning.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stay indoors unless it is necessary to travel. If it is necessary to travel on campus, please remember to take precautions.
· Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing.
· Wear outer garments that are tightly woven, water repellent, and hooded.
· Wear a hat – 40 percent of your body heat can be lost from your head.
· Cover your mouth to protect your lungs from extreme cold.
· Wear mittens that are snug at the wrist; mittens are better than gloves.
· Try to stay dry and out of the wind.”

A uni quoting the debunked theory of losing 40% of body heat through your head. Lol.
And who has mits? Are they encouraging people to go out and buy them?

I thought you lost your body heat through every part of your body equally?

Your body can reduce blood flow to your extremities that will reduce the amount of heat loss but that is also why you get frost bite in your toes first. The important thing is that quote about x% from head was traced back to some military guide book and it was found to not be based on any evidence but more the desire to ensure soldiers cept their hats on! An early form of fake news.

Do the mittens come with a piece of elastic/ string so you don't lose one?
