Made me smile anyway!
I think the bigger issue is him betting on Brentford to lose in games he wasn't playing in.
If he was betting on Brentford to win when he was playing, he is just going to try a bit harder. That's not cheating.
Could create a big mess.this is not just one person and his addiction because we know other players have been flagged up and fined or banned before, the best way to cover it up is to shout addiction and the player needs help, Sorry its Match fixing and cheating the fans and the game, How hard is it to see that Premier League players doing something strange and missing a shitter or scoring with the defender or keeper making a howler,

Ivan Tony is a dickhead… A very talented one but nevertheless, he knew the rules and abused them (daft as they are) and now he’s paying the price ..
As far as I’m aware he didn’t climb out of a window to avoid a drug test though, same ban length … !
It is still cheating because he has insider knowledge of the team. He knows the conditions running up to the game, how prepared and fit the team is. Put it this way, if there are players in the team who are an injury doubt then that impacts the odds in the market - say De Bruyne and Haaland are both only 50% likely to play, then the market's odds for us winning that game will have the risk of them not playing built in and so they will likely be lower.
Toney can use insider knowledge like that to his advantage and choose to bet on them to win in games where the conditions in the run up are more favourable. Therefore, he is beating the market odds with insider knowledge. You only need a small edge over other betters to beat the market in the long-run.
Yep totally agree mateWhat sticks in the gut mate is his whinging about being "Snubbed" by England and now we know why.
You vindictive FOC!I hope he had £100k riding on City to thrash his team at The Etihad!
Is it a ridiculous conspiracy theory to suggest that Southgate may have leant on the powers that be to make sure he's fit and firing for the Euros next summer?
I was born cynical with a vindictive streak, jim!You vindictive FOC!
Yes it is. If it had been somebody integral to the team like kane for example then there's a plausible suggestion but the guy is/was far from certain to even make the squad and if he does, he's not going to see many minutes. Is it a ridiculous conspiracy theory to suggest that Southgate may have leant on the powers that be to make sure he's fit and firing for the Euros next summer?
Yes, but smokescreen deflection tactics. As said earlier, a pro betting against the team he played in is awful. I wouldnt want to be in the same team as him ever again and if I was a manager Inwouldnt touch him with a bargepole. Hugely disrepectful to clubmates and undermines the fabric of what team sports and collective effort is about. Who would trust him?Regardless of what he’s done, Franks is right about the hypocrisy of football and its relationship with betting companies.
