I've just won a signed united ball

Saying that it could be worth a fortune if I keep hold of it. Think about it a ball signed by united just before they sold all their good players to pay off debts.

you should have done what I did under similar circumstances

told everyone thanks but no thanks and told them to re raffle the rag crap for the good cause

Shame the lad wouldn't swap for the shirt, he is thinking about the money he can get for it.. but not all rags are like that.

Just before my brother died, we had a fund raising event at Baldy Bob's in Failsworth (arranged by Nikki, CHT and a few others on here); a lot of people donated things for a raffle....

One of the main prizes was a limited edition, framed picture of Mercer, Allison, Bell, Lee & Summerbee and signed by the three players; the shop that donated it had it marked up at £400. We raffled this by getting everybody to put a £10 note with their name on it into a bucket... it raised £480 and was won by a united fan... who immediately gave it to my brother.

When he died a few weeks later, he left it to me. It's now gathering dust behind the settee.
