I've never loved them more.

I agree DD. You always need a loose cannon in there to mix things up.
I reckon it could well be Balotelli.

You're right.

Balotelli will be our wanker.

I'm happy now.

-- Mon Sep 27, 2010 12:59 pm --

Hahaha, nice post.

The only problem there as I see it that I have always believed that every great side needs a wanker in there.

Bellamy was ours last year but I'm not sure who will fill his shoes...Kolorov?

Depends what you define as a 'wanker' mate. For instance when Barca won every trophy possible a couple of years back with Guardiola there wasn't really a player in that side that i'd call a 'wanker' but all depends on what you feel causes someone to be a 'wanker'

For the definition of wanker look up Gary Neville.

i was thinking much the same after the chelsea match. My outlook has completely changed since the months after we were taken over. I'll admit i was one of the pro trying to sign kaka people and i wanted mourinho and i saw no problem in signing every player under the sun. I was totally wrong. What i'm pleased about is we now have players who, hand on heart, i consider to be world class/world class potential who are totally synonymous with city. Mention de jong, kompany, joe hart, adam johnson to any football fan and they will think of manchester city.
Same goes with mancini - yes i realise that he is a huge name in world football and has achieved an immense amount but, certainly in this country he is synonymous with manchester city. Same applies to yaya, silva and balotelli.
I'm also happy to admit i was wrong, to an extent about de jong. Before this season i thought he was a very good player but wasn't sure if he would keep his place ahead of barry and yaya - i now think he is undroppable and an absolutely immense player.
We're creating our own stars and i am now of the opinion that i don't want any players who are synonymous with other clubs unless there are exceptional circumstance like tevez for example.
I would even think twice about signing torres now

Could be Balotelli? Bar him i can't see many possible "wanker" personalities in our team. Ade could be another i guess.

NDJ is certainly worthy of the accolades on here. Ferocious tackler who must put the fear of god up oncoming attackers. You could see as Chelski lost the midfield completely why he is pivotal for us. Man love, indeed. I certainly would'nt like a kick up the arse off him.

The best thing about De Jong is that he is not a wanker.

He takes man and ball, knocks the opponent for six, then just gets up and jogs back into position.

None of the Roy Keane type snarling with Nige. It's just a case of "Job done. Who's next?"

I like this too...

I also like that he doesn't mind someone "attempting" to treat him in the same way with regard to hard tackles etc.

Real man

Great post Wireblue. Sums it up perfectly for me - 'we're creating our own stars'.

Lee Dixon (a man who I usually have a bit of time for) said in his newspaper article over the weekend that a lack of identity will be City's undoing.
I couldnt disagree with him more.
If Hart, Kompany, De Jong et al provide a core to this team for seasons to come then we'll have an extremely strong identity that we can add superstars and youngster to without weakening that solid frame.

As for Big Nige going about his business and not being a cnut like Keane.....agree definitely.
Noticed it with some others on Saturday too. Noticably Zabba, Milner and Barry. Silva also surprisingly. They snapped at Chelsea all day long and if an opponent fell to the floor they would recieve a genuine pat on the back - a check to see if they're okay - then the lads would trot back into position. Great to see.

Also, the team all congratualted each other and looked a real unit at the final whistle.

But they didn't go overboard, indicating the fact that they are well used to big games and have confidence of winning even the biggest.

It's a sign that the penny has dropped with the players. This win means nothing unless we beat Newcastle. Last year we drew with Bolton and Sunderland in the league games immediately after the 2 wins over Chelsea. This season, we lost at Sunderland after beating Liverpool. Mancini's said time and time again that we must have the same mentality for every game, yet the players have failed to deliver. This time, i think we actually will. I know we have Juve to come first, but i can't stop thinking about the Newcastle game. I think we're actually going to follow up a big win for a change.

Even if we win 10 Prem Lg titles and 8 Champions Lg's in a row, many if them players will have to go a long way to go ahead if Andy Morrison and Uwe Rosler for me!

But I do really like our current players who do seem to like playing for us - take note Ireland!
