Jack Grealish | Set to join Everton on season-long loan

Pep has played Bernardo at LB, Nunes at LW, Gundog at RW & introduced the inverted defender. Grealish is quicker than most realise & can retain possession.

When he came here & was made to change his game to retain possession, it baffled many including myself, what was the point in his signing. Then I saw the stat that Grealish was the king of assisting the assister. He was streets & lanes ahead of everyone else in the PL, which must have had a major bearing on our decision to trigger his £100m buy out clause.

In the absence of Rodri & a viable alternative, I don't see Jack as a No 6/8 being a square peg in a round hole. I honestly believe he'd be more use to us in this crisis playing centrally, than being unproductive on the bench. IMHO, he'd offer more centrally from deep than Kovacic, Gundog or Nunes.
Played great against Forest, then next game wasn’t as good, seemingly never to play in the centre again! Pep needs to give him time I just don’t think he fancies him anymore.

I think his attitude has done for him, the jack the lad bit is great when things are going well and its all laughing and joking but when things go to shit and you need people to step up and grind it doesnt work so well.

Does this mean I don't have to hear "he's doing exactly what Pep wants" every time he does pretty much nothing for ninety minutes?

Honestly, I like Jack and hope he proves people wrong but I feel like I've been saying that for years. Would have been okay value for half of what we paid but the bottom line is he very rarely has any serious influence in a match and there's not really anything he brings that we couldn't get a well disciplined academy player to do just as well.

It's been so tedious to hear and read half arsed attempts at defending his mediocrity for the last couple of years.

That's not supposed to be harsh or bait a response out of anyone. It just is what it is.

And people need to stop blaming Pep for Jack's shortcomings.
It was always an insulting and joke of an excuse, even more so when Pep and this team thrived with the likes of Sane, Sterling, Mahrez, Bernardo, Doku and now Silvinho.

Grealish apart from one hot run of form has been a poor signing.

Something's quite clearly up between Pep & Jack. I like Grealish, but will support the club's stance on him. He's becoming as useful as a £100m paper weight. At 30 this year, we'll be lucky to get £40m for him if it comes to selling him.

I just hope he can sort his shit out & Pep moves him inside long-term to extend his career with City & give us the help we need during this difficult period.

I just saw a report saying come September TWELVE of our squad will be 30 or over! I know we have an elite squad, but it's negligent of us to allow our team to reach such a senior state, without having the next generation bedded in & ready to step in.

Three of those twelve are the goalies and includes Scott Carson so it's not as bad as you make it sound. It would include KdB & Gundogan who are both out of contract before then as well.

It is poor the way the squad has been allowed to age and replacing those twelve would, in theory take five windows to replace. By that time several more, including Rodri would come into that age bracket.
On the flip side we have seven players aged 24 or under. Eight if we include McAtee.

Mate it is as bad as it sounds, because recently we've been playing a testimonial version of walking football.

As Gary Neville said recently, having 30 year olds in your team isn't an issue. It's when half your team are 30 year olds it becomes a problem, as we've cruelly found out.

He recounted his final 2 years at ManUre & the decline in his abilities to keep up with players a decade younger than him. He told how injuries began to take their toll, & how he had to change his game, because albeit he was never blessed with pace, even his football brain & positional sense couldn't help him, when a player clipped a ball past him, put on the afterburners & left him for dead.

There's no stopping the hand of ole Father Time mate...

So in 5 more windows all of the players will be older? Who'd have thunked it...

Just sell him. I honestly think it’s over. With Marmoush joining and a potential AM in summer it’s time for him to leave. He is part of the deadwood and should be clear winger number 1 but he isn’t.

Hope if and when he sees Marmoush come in and he's one step further from the first team it gives him a rocket and he knuckles down. He's capable of so much more and it's one of my least favourite things watching footballers not maximize their talent. Balotelli was a tragedy. Sane likewise had more than Sterling when he started but Sterling exceeded him by working on himself.

......and observe what happened to them all when they left City.

Additionally, Jesus & Zinchenco havent set the heather on fire at arsebottom.

Ironically, Dzeko is really the only leaver to go on to have a continued successful career.
