Jack Rodwell

Re: Jack Rodwell

Poor today but to be fair he hardly played in pre season, and hasn't played a minute since then, bound to be way off with his match fitness

Re: Jack Rodwell

Rodwell and Milner will never be real top quality however much you want them to be.

The clamour for both was great on here, yet neither make any difference at all.

Without kompany and Silva we are just very average.

Re: Jack Rodwell

It was very insipid performance by Rodwell.

Shouldn't criticise him too much after his first game. We'll never know what instructions he'd been given, whether he'd been given license to get forward or told to play conservatively

Certainly had license to go forward under Mancini, not a sign yesterday.

Regardless of what the instructions were, he simply did not apply himself in any respect. defensively, he looked a lot like Garcia did last season. perpetually in no position to effect change. Offensively, his passing was timid (He couldn't wait to get rid of the ball), but worst of all was his positioning. He constantly hid from the ball. Never showed to receive it. The only time he attempted to do something positiive with the ball, he ran int o cul de sac and fouled Walters in Stoke's box. That was pretty much his day. By a large margin the worst player yesterday.

He is young, and hasn't had much time as a starter or playing, but he simply was poor.

-- Sun Sep 15, 2013 1:07 pm --

Rodwell has a chance, Milner will always be nothing more than a workhorse role player. I have said that a million times. That would never change. Rodwell on the other hand has qualities that suggest he might become top quality. But right now, all that is still just projections, as opposed to any real evidence based on performance.

That's because he hasn't got Barry holding behind him. Very ineffective in the role he was given yesterday, would have subbed him TBH just to try something different.

One positive is that he appears to have got through the game uninjured!

This^^^^.. I also happen to think if you keep this lad fit then he will be a tremendous player, a game winner and will get his quota of Goals.

Re: Jack Rodwell

Had a big chance at Stoke to stamp his claim and failed miserably

-- Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:11 am --

meant to add - I have been impressed in his recent performances before stoke so had no worries when he was picked.
