What needs to happen is for the deadwood to be gotten of rid this close season and a smattering of our promising young players to step up to improve our current second string. From there, as and when, they can be further integrated. Hopefully.
Can't be coincidence (or bad planning) all these contracts being up this Summer, Pep has a cunning plan that doesn't involve turnips.

If we see one first teamer emerge and then establish themselves once every two to three seasons then imo the academy can be judged to be a huge success. Anything more would be a fantastic bonus. The big hope would be for three or four to make it through together and I want that as much as you but I can't see it happening when we are in a position to purchase readymade world class players from around the globe.

A regular player emerging every few years would be fine, but our academy hasn't produced a single one since the takeover. In the meantime, we should be using ten, fifteen others as non regular players, in the squad to fill holes & rest players, then selling them if they can't become regulars.

Pellegrini totally lacked the balls to even attempt this & consequently, all the players from the last more senior age groups, who should have been options for Pep when he arrived, were already more or less write offs, who had not kicked a ball in the first team but were already becoming stale & too old to sit on the bench, needing regular football. At the swamp, an incoming manager would know about those players because many of them would have played, at least once, for the first team, before beingloaned out, sold or kept as utility players. Pep has hardly any of those to work with & has skipped straight on to the next generation of younger ones. If in 3 years, he hsn't given any a decent chance, like Pellegrini, he will only be doing half a job imo, no matter how many trophies he wins by spending.

That is the only way to do it. Have a number of youngsters as the second string and on the bench and slowly integrate them. It has been difficult to do in the recent past for a number of reasons from the players not being deemed good enough to not being bold enough to side line second string senior players that are earning vast sums of money. I have a feeling that will change somewhat over the next two or three years.

City will tie down the player they believe will be their next English superstar, Jadon Sancho (16), with a new 3-year contract. [Daily Mail]

Sancho's new contract will run until 2020, and City believe he and teammate Phil Foden have the best chance of making the first team. [Mail]

Sancho has been trailed by Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, but with Pep Guardiola's encouragement, City have moved to improve his deal. [Mail]

He and team mate Foden...... so what's wrong with Diaz all of a sudden?

Had a great game again tonight. Silky smooth movement and looks a level above the opposition. By no means is Sancho the finished product yet but limitless potential there

Is there no way the club could make such games available to those of us who are too cynical, busy, lazy, drunk or whatever, to attend, but not enough of a twat to have facebook ?

Bit of a 'twatty' comment really when it's obvious that a lot of posters watch these games through Facebook.

As Clercqs says it's not hard to set one up to just get the streams.

Everton dealt with him quite well last night but he still scored. He is making so much space for others now too as three defenders are sent just to deal with him. A fantastic talent.

Wasn't his best game last night but still found space by cutting inside and that was usually followed by a quality pass to a team mate.

You don't actually need a Facebook account to watch these games on the Academy's Facebook page (I haven't got an account either).

It was good last night as I watched the first 25 mins live, then had to go out to a local meeting, them came back a few hours later and watched the 2nd half without knowing the final score

The first 11 on paper is very good especially from an attacking sense, but our second string squad players are really poor. Navas, Nolito, Delph, Fernando, Clichy, Sagna, Bravo all need to be shown the door in the summer to make way for new signings and some of the younger players, either through the academy or coming back from loan. We could have an immense squad next season if we make a few tweaks here and there.
