James McAtee joins Forest for an overall fee of £30m

I wonder if taking the pressure away of playing for the team he supports might help - might be counter productive for him at this stage of development.

Good look Macca!

Good luck to the lad. Like Tommy Doyle before him, I never once thought he'd make the grade at City unfortunately. We operate at a different level now.

You can't blame him for leaving, would've been in and out of the squad if he'd stayed around and seen very few minutes. Good luck at Forest James

As much as I’m disappointed that James has had to leave, it was the best for all parties that he moved on.

It was clear that he is a very skilful player, but with the new recruits, it would have led to even less meaningful game time for him, had he stayed.

I’m delighted that the club has, apparently, inserted a buy-back clause in the deal. Maybe some lessons have been learnt from Cole Palmer’s success at Chelsea.

It’s a win-win situation for City.

Was one from CFA who I had down to being a City first team regular, so disappointing that he has had to leave and I wish him the best of luck Think he made a big mistake in joining Sheffield United second time around when he was on the verge of signing for Leicester which was the club's choice Hes got all the talent just needs to become less passive
One consolation is £30m towards the £47m Reijnders fee

If you want a buy back clause you get less money for the player and all 3 parties have to agree to it, it isn't something City do on their own.

City got good money for Palmer, and he probably didn't want to come back. City rarely take up the buy back option, they are normally set well above the player's value and expire before they look like good value. The matching clause was much better in a recent transfer, but still you need to sell a bit cheaper and get all 3 to agree for any of it.
