James Milner

Greetings all, I've seen some interesting comments re Milner. The lad is a good player and will work his nuts off (we could really do with him). When he played out wide for us he wasn't anywhere near as good as when Oneil moved him into a more central position. Mancini doesn't seem to know where to accommodate him yet.
Milner was a big loss for us and Ireland is struggling to make an impact at present. We know he is a good player when in form but Houllier doesn't seem to have much confidence in him at the moment. I'd be interested to hear where the moonies think Irelands best position is. The general opinion amongst the villa fans is playing him off the striker.

Milner was outstanding against Liverpool on his debut. but he has done very little since. Needs to get his finger out along with a few others.

Milner has been a let down so far. Even in the position tonight were he excelled last season for Villa he looked off form. His passing at times was poor and he lacks creative flair.
I have said about him in the past he is a Jack of Trades and Master of none type of midfielder but he needs to up his level of play. Time will tell but he is starting to look like 1 of those signings that wont add much to this squad at the moment. He has time on his side but he needs to show what has got him the move here in the first place.

Is it just Milner being singled out due to a few bad results, he had a great game for us on the opening fixture v West Ham and you don't suddenly become crap overnight. Maybe the problem is partly due to the fact he is playing in a squad that has yet to become a team.

If he has a bad season I'm sure we would take him back for £10mill in the summer.

His best position was a free role in central midfield and not just off the main striker but I'm not sure what's up with the guy. One of his strengths used to be in a Lampard type role breaking deep from midfield into the box and he can tackle. He has the skill to play a pure AM, according to all the training reports and gossip from city players he was one of the most technically gifted players at the club.

The problem is........

He had one storming season and since that has completely lost the plot. No-one knows what goes on in Stevie's head, he can do it as he has demonstrated in the past but will he? Your guess is as good as mine......

He is actually WORSE than Ireland was, when Ireland was shit, which says a lot.

Absolutely awful.

Not had a good game since his debut. I believe he can be good but he's not shown it. How he's been playing over AJ and even SWP is a miracle.

The guy can't even run.. I knew it was a bad idea going for him in the first place. I remember people claiming that he was the final piece of the puzzle.
He might well be. We are 4th for the moment. 4th from the top.

Bit too soon to start dancing on our grave
