Reminds me of Alan Oakes. Different positionally but same attitude and an equally great pro.

That's a good comparison to be honest, I've always liked him, but its the improvement that has stood out to me, I know its early days and all that, but he looks fitter, and more confident.

I think this formation Bob has been tinkering with has also helped him, its not one I'm totally convinced by just yet, but we'll see, it seems to fit our squad quite well.

nobody doubts that James Milner can play , but there's no point in running yourself into the ground if you've a poor end product ...... and Milner needs to both create more , and score more .

I've always liked him. Was so excited when we got him. Then he dissapeared. Would love to see him in a more prominent roll. He seems to play hard every minute he plays.

I like Milner, he's a good honest pro in the same mould as Zab. There's no doubt we overpaid but that's not his fault. I actually think he's a player who would thrive with more responsibility, like he did at Villa.
He's a far better player than given credit for and would be one of the first names on the team sheet in most Prem teams.

Like others have said he's a great player and is a brilliant work horse, I remember him linking up brilliantly with Silva last season. It must be so tiring to work against him, wasn't it at the euro's he averaged some idiotically high running stats?

Really excited for this 3-4-1-2 that we'll be running. Fits great for Milner's versatile style of play. On the sides, in the back with Yaya or Gaz, playing farther up with Kun and Tevez. Love that he doesn't make a scene when he doesn't constantly get his starts. Always shows up and performs. Great player.

Milner is a quality squad player who NEVER let's you down and fights 'til the end.....and, like GB, he covers up for the mistakes of others! Remember Micah's comment about playing down the right with Milner?!

Glad to see Jimmy getting his due.....for a change! Not a world class player, but not everyone can be.

I was really impressed with James on Sunday, and he had a great game last night, for the 30 minutes or so that he was on the pitch.

I too think the wing-back role will suit him. Remember how he caused all sorts of havoc down the right at the swamp last October?

That will mean competition for Zaba and maybe Micah as right wing-back, although I see Micah playing more on the right of the back three with Vinnie and Joleon.

As someone else said, he never moans when not picked and just gets on with it.
