James Milner

Having watched Milner last night all my negativity came back as regards his suitability to our squad. Poor passing, caught in possession, lack of control and poor decision making.
Please do not get me wrong because I like the lad and think he gives 100% commitment all the time. But is he he right for regular starts? The answer has got to be no and just used as a squad player.

Oh come on - he was playing in a shit team and was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of passing ability. He delivered an inch perfect pass to a player in space on the edge of the box on 20 occasions. Not his fault that possession was normally lost within 2 passes. He had 140 touches of the ball – nobody else managed 100 and he set up the most chances on the night - 9. All except one were wasted. Statistically England's best player on the pitch by a mile.

More proof if any where needed the Jimmy is on fire this season.

Some people need to show him the respect he deserves considering what he does for this team and this squad.

Do you think the club deserve the respect of not having him walk away on a free or do you think it's totally fine if he goes to another PL club next June?

I believe he's acting in a totally professional way. He has got on with the job and always given 100%, despite not always being a regular choice. He has pretty much seen his contract out and has the right to move onto something else if the club aren't able to give him the contract he desires.

Me too. Can't see any justification for saying he's holding us to ransom. As for being tapped up, that's one person's theory with nothing to back it up.

Imo, Milner's being honest with himself and with the club. It may not suit us 100% but it doesn't diminish the guy.

We need Jimmy to stay at the club and as I've said before he's the most underrated and intelligent player in the league.

Every great side needs water carriers and he's got the skill to go with it.

Bit harsh that bulldog he had a good game imo

The only reason for Milner not to sign a new contract is financial.

If City are asking him to take a real pay cut then he would have cause not to sign the contract; otherwise it is a case of him wanting a big signing on fee when he leaves on a free.

If Milner had a longer term contract but felt he needed to leave to get more game time, City would, IMO, let him go so long as they got a fair fee. Milner wants that fee for himself or maybe his charity but, regardless, he is currently preventing City from capitalising fully on the value of his registration. That is bad for MCFC.

Spot on matey!!!

The attitude for me will change again over the coming weeks, with Fernando fit, can see navas starting more with the extra defensive cover, even more so with a midfield 3 of fern, Fernando and yaya!!

Could be. I am intrigued to see what Pellegrini does when he gets those three all fully fit at the same time.

He's been helped by the jovetic situation in making that decision... It allows him to reintroduce 1 up top, Sergio and Edin will have to be used more sparingly IMO!!

He signed a contract and to the best of my knowledge he has honoured that contract as have we. He is fully entitled to not sign another contract if he believes that it would be against his best interests to do so. Reasons could be financial (as you state), a lack of playing time (as he states) or something else entirely (wanting to play abroad/fancying a fresh challenge/change of scenery etc).

I believe it is likely to be due to a perceived lack of playing time. This is what he has said himself and I see no reason for him to be dishonest about it. Any of the other reasons are perfectly acceptable, so why lie about it?

Don't know but im not buying this "lack of game time", unless he expects to be regular starter at City. If he expects that, then he is way unrealistic. He had enough game time last season. Over 40 appearances in a double winning team.

Good point; especially with Kun's injury record.

You think Jimmy is going to sit in press conferences and say: " I am not signing a new contract with City because I want to make sure I get a multi-million pound signing on fee if I decide to leave"?

No one is suggesting Jimmy is lying - I certainly ain't; it's what he is not saying...

lets put it another way, imagine i played for leeds who are in the position we are in at the moment,,but my club has always been city who are in the position leeds are in.

my contract with leeds is nearing the end,i would take the free transfer with the huge signing on fee, play for another club, then run that contract down and join city on a free.

I get to secure my families future, and I get to finish my career at city.

jimmy is a leeds lad,and if I was in his position I would run the contract down, and take the mega money, who wouldn't ?

A real grafter is our Jimmy some other players in our squad need to watch his effort and dedication to the task okay he'll never have us drooling over his sublime vision and silky skills ala Merlin but I have a lot of time for the guy if he feels it's time for a fresh challenge and a more regular first team deployment who are we to argue he leaves everything on the pitch whenever he is called on to do a job and thats all I ask of any player privileged to wear the sky blue of MCFC.

You forget James has been on mega money curtesy of City for the last 4 years. Having played for Leeds, Newcastle and aston villa his salary went from £10k per month to £80k when he signed for us. He wouldn't have been on anything like that at any other club and wouldn't have won as much silverware or played so much for England. Everything he has is thanks to City, Forgive me but if he doesn't sign I'll consider it an act of treason whatever the reason and consider him to be an ungrateful bastard!!!

What a pile of utter horseshit. He's a professional footballer, he's never claimed to be a fan or love the club. "Treason" lol. He's been a model pro whilst at City and if he decides to go, then I for one will thank him for his contribution.
As for saying he owes everything to City, well that's just more fucking nonsense. He was already an England international and absolutely adored by Villa fans. He may have won medals with City but his reputation as a player has suffered.

I know hes on mega money compared to the normal man but at the end of the day its his job,and like all of us would jump for the money at the drop of a hat.

he seems like a top pro,he never causes problems, and im pretty sure hes a straight up lad,and if he goes then he goes with my thanks, however, hes not a city fan,hes a pro and he will want to earn what he can when he can,as for treason,no he hasn't betrayed us,hes served us well.

Your arse is talking mate, should get that checked out.

The double standard that footballers are criticised for not seeing out their contract, then being criticised when one is considering seeing the contract he signed out. Some of our supporters are a joke at times.
