James Rodríguez - Monaco/Colombia

The time to get him was straight from porto. Really need to up our game on young players with potential. Keep losing out/not bothering to get one meaning afterwards if we were interested then they cost far too much.

We need to pinch porto's scouts. They've found some brilliant players.

Its not just their scouts, its that fact that they don't have as strict rules on work permits and when they do sign these young players get a chance in the team.

Did we ever find out if transfer fees were spread across the years of the contract? This would help with the FFP restriction e g 50m split across a 5 year contract.

We cannot sign this kid....Platini will not allow it ........he wants Madrid, Barcelona, Rags and Bayern to contest the champs league semi finals every year and allowing someone outside his own top 4 to buy him will not happen ...... He wont stop until he meets his goals of bringing in rules to only benefit those 4 teams ...starting with FFP ....look at Barcelona....transfer ban removed on appeal.....rags spending millions ......Platini has not said a word neither has Wenger

The lenient third party rules also help which is probably why a lot of south american players get encouraged to go there by their agents as they get to keep a huge percentage.
