James Trafford joins City | 5 Year Contract

Harry was a bit short by gk standards but he had a fantastic leap. I always felt he was unlucky to miss most of our championship season due to injury. He was back as no.1 the following year but a certain Mr. Corrigan was looming.
From memory, wasn't Corrigan around 6'4"? If so, that means Trafford is actually taller than him. But Joe was built like a brick shithouse. James needs to get on the Luke Shaw diet! I had a season ticket in the North Stand back in the mid-late 70s; block P, row 7,not far from Helen, and Corrigan seemed bloody huge when you were close to him. Not a bloke to have an argument with!

There seems to be a split on Traffords height. Some sources say 6-3 others 6-6.

he'l be on a rotation with Ederson or maybe do all the cup games inc CL, he'l be aware of the situation that Ederson will leave close season for him to step up as number 1, hardly the end of the world hanging about to step up esp on the money he will be earning

We won't but Trafford will play the cups, however last season Ederson had a few injuries and I could see Trafford getting into the team at some point in the season and keeping his place.
Plus Ederson can agree to a deal with another club in January, if that happens we could well see Trafford as the number 1.
Why do clubs do this dance with keepers? Why would we just shut Ederson out if he decides to go (which he obviously will) in January? Why would a keeper come in who could be first choice at his current club, or move to a CL club and be first choice in a world cup year, but decide to come to us to bench warm and play against Newport or such like. Faith needs to be given to Trafford, we have bought him back and time for him to prove he is our number 1, not throw some games to Ederson out of loyalty (like we did with outfield players last season)

I have no idea exaactly what we'll do and to be honest not going to worry about it, the coaches will decide what works best, and who starts the season as number 1, and we know Trafford will be number 1 after next season hwen exactly it happens, best wait and see.

Wiki, which we all know is never wrong (!), goes with the latter. That's what I went with.......

Prompted by Wiki, I looked up St Bedes which I knew little about. It’s an interesting history, good and bad. The England women’s midfield of Stanway and Walsh both went there on City’s full time education project as well as many ex City academy men.

6 foot 4 and a quarter inch. That’s what it said on my top trumps card anyways.

Funnily enough I met him at a junior blues meeting aged 7ish and I was well disappointed how he wasn’t as tall as I’d imagined!!

Got to know him latterly and absolutely sound as a pound.

Let’s hope Trafford is as good.

As the actress said to the bishop, that extra quarter inch can make all the difference.

;-)

It kind of makes the forum redundant if we can't discuss things and just say wait and see. If we fanny about playing one, one week and another the next week then that will benefit absolutely nobody.

Keepers should not be rotated in the slightest. I also dont think Traff would come in a world cup year to sit on the bench and wait it out

Until you get to say Jan/Feb and your first choice gets injured and you throw in your second choice who hasn't played a competitive game since the previous season and has no match fitness or sharpness

City have a superb record of keepers, here’s hoping Trafford is a worthy successor to Swift, Trautmann, Dowd, Corrigan, Hart, rather than Dibble.
It’s something I’ve mentioned before, and I know there were others, but we had three goalies that covered the vast majority of the games Manchester City played from 1933 to 1983; half a century.

My Ma was a cook there and at City.

The connection is strong.

Just next to Alek Park. Would that be Whalley Range, down there? It was on the far side of the park from where I spent my first 10 years (Claremont Road) It's got a pretty good academic reputation, I think.

Yep. Whalley Range. It’s academic rep is good.

Was a lot better when I was there. Struggling now to fill the 6th form. Used to be about 150 in the 6th form when I went. My niece who finished the other year said there was about 30 odd in the 6th form now. I was shellshocked that there was that few.

Without City it would have gone under, following the abolishment of Trafford places.

No longer run by the Salford Diocese either and is under the control of a Spanish Catholic charity I believe.
