If Trafford is coming as No.2 and willing to fight for No.1 spot then this is a great signing for the squad given the HG issues. He’d be a top quality No.2 already and still so young. I can’t say whether he is or isn’t ready to be No.1 but I’d be surprised if we threw that much caution to the wind.

I have been a big fan of Ederson but it goes without saying he has lost the confidence of the fans with his performances in recent months and I would sooner see us sign an excellent GK rather than footballer in the net as we pick our next one - if we can’t have both.

Would be a great signing and assuming Eddie gets to wish to leave then would go straight in as No 1.

Need to get this big good with feet out of the equation as it’s not going hr everything about a good goalkeeper. Joe hart was a great shot stopper who won two titles with us and made loads of too class saves and look at David de gea who was rubbish with his feet but still he amount of saves he produced to win games for Utd was up there aswell and yes we had ederson who was great amazing for us and he saved us in he champions league final but last season he was poor and so far in the cwc he was crap aswell. If Trafford comes back it will take time but he will be our future .

I was disputing the point about us not using his ball playing skills, nothing to do with his shot stopping.

Trafford would be a very very risky signing as a number 1, big difference coming from the championship into a team that wants to win everything. He has never really been under the scrutiny or intensity that a keeper at the top of the prem and cl is under and there would be very little room for error in his first season. Im not saying he will or wont be great but its a huge risk. Put it this way, if he was going to the dippers to replace Allison I would be quite pleased and thats not a good thing.
I was quite pleased at first when I knew Kelleher was in goals for Liverpool but in the end I found out he was a top class shot stopper who hardly fucked up.

Agree with your comment about the irrelevance now about feet. Over 95 % of Ederson's passes are to either full back who is positioned a short distance from him and we spend a large amount of time knocking it about between defensive players. Gone are the days when we had a winger such as Mahrez who Ederson could ping a ball to and he could bring it down and control it at once. We have nobody in the side now who can do that including Haaland so that the long hit has become almost an irrelevance. Whilst we have a problematic defence we need a shot stopper

If he is coming in to sort out HG issues, we are going about it all wrong. You sort out HG issues by selling or loaning out the surplus 4 NHG players, either old or young. Not by signing a former young keeper to be a no.2 while letting your current no.1 go.

Absolute nonsense.
We have a number of players blessed with an excellent first touch.
We can have both - a shot stopper who is decent with the feet; it is not either/or.

Cherki can do it, maybe even better than Mahrez plus teams don’t press Ederson because there’s no point and he’ll pass through them. Whoever the new keeper is will need to be very good with their feet ,even if not Ederson level. As long as Pep is manager it won’t be irrelevant, no matter what anyone thinks.

I just hope we get Chevalier and Trafford, they can fight it out and prove who deserves to play second fiddle to the other.
No top keeper will agree to fight for 1 spot
That is nonsense
There would enough demand for either as no.1 keeper

We sold a few good Hg players for PURE PROFIT
only fair if those mindless profit chasing sales come back to bite us

This^ One of Ederson underrated advantages is his reputation. Nobody presses him because they know it’s pointless, if we get Trafford he will have to deal with that.

Omds I remember the hype around that kid. Then he ended up the worst GK in the league …
Bazanu or Trafford? cos its arguable that when both were in the prem they were both the worse keeper in the league at the time. Only other contender is ironically another ex city keeper Muric who was awful yet actually displaced Trafford at Burnley in their prem season.

Get him signed, HG, knows the system. Not as good as Eddie with his feet, but a better shot stopper. This may help us in long run, to get the ball forward quicker. Also don’t think Eddie wants us anymore. He has been good for us but all good things come to an end.
