We'll see on this one. 22 years old and had his best season in the 2nd division. I dont think he's in the position to be calling the shots. Plus I don't see the point in throwing him in at the deep end straight away. He'll get time and a safety net.

Maybe he completely excels in his games and Ederson underperforms and the transition happens quicker than we think, but I sincerely doubt he's being signed with the intention of being a day 1 starter.

He’ll have been told to gain experience here through the cups and take over, all being well, in 12 months.

I dont think its an upgrade right now on either Ortega or Ederson, but lots of potential imo, home grown, one of ours, worst case scenario can be flipped in 2 years for 20m again. or he keeps improving, works hard toward the dream he has of saving for City first team and becomes our number 1 for years to come.

also at 27m and probably simple wages of max 75K-100 imo, its a good business.

Ortega should bring in 15m imo. I am ok with Ederson-Trafford duo for one season and then lets see where we are with the GK situation next summer.

Both Ortega and Ederson have only 1 year left.

I doubt clubs pay 15m £ for any of them.
Gala bidding 10m€= 8.7m£ for Ederson.
Ortega would be much cheaper - or even leaving on loan.

No secret now we MUST sell Ortega or Ederson.

I can see him signing as number 2 if he has been told that Ederson will be leaving next summer and the plan is for him to transition to be number one over the course of the season.

Hes a better shot stopper than Eddie, but he's way off with his feet.

Not sure how to feel about this one.

Have to say mate, goalkeeper is there to stop goals, not to assist. Eddie had 5 assists in his time with us, a good keeper can make two saves that may be goals in one match.

Is it just me, or are City building for a future without Pep

I just get this feeling Pep will leave next summer and City will have a stock of players that can play other ways
james-trafford is a very good keeper but I would say in the style of a Joe Hart rather than Ederson

Also, this Alexander Isak rumour and players hoping to stay like Grealish, it feels like the Club know something and doesn't want to sell players or release players just yet

So the plan is obviously. Ortega leaving. Which im sure we get 13 mill for which completely covers the trafford fee. Eddie stays leaving on a free next summer ( better than 3m from galtasaray) Trafford learns from Eddie this year playing plenty of games too. summer 2026. Trafford citys number 1. New number 2 signed .
