Everyone quotes PSG v Liverpool as it was a standout anomaly… it was important for the vast majority of clubs to finish high. Also next CL they have introduced a new rule whereby you can”steal” another club’s home advantage. It’s just nor a competition you can take a chance in and Pep won’t.

I’m very confident that if Ederson stays and isn’t injured then Trafford will not play in any CL games next season. We will see.
What's this rule? Steal a home advantage?

Ornstein's brief said it would be Eddie staying as number 1 and Ortega leaving.
And?

Just last week there were like 17 turkish and some german journalists convinced he was going to Galatasaray. And most believed it unconditionally.

Is one tweet all it takes to convince people?

Me too, but I think most importantly, he's earned it. It's not easy for me to see what the down side of this deal is. Sure, he needs experience in the PL, but he'll get it and he'll be well coached. And… no offers for Ed as yet. Ed staying, and young James giving him competition, would be a good scenario, as far as I can see.

Tolmie posted that some at the club questioned Ederson's injuries last season, so whilst he is going to be very difficult to replace I would much prefer giving Trafford that chance as opposed to Diogo Costa

don't get me wrong, i'm happy he's signed.
but, for what they're worth, his stats with his feet are terrible when compared to either Ederson or Ortega.
It's worth noting that both of these stats are against weaker opposition for Trafford.

Joe Hart was let go because it was thought he wasn't good enough with his feet.
Bot Hart and Trafford are/were excellent shot stoppers.

Hence me wondering how their stats compare. That's why.

Not to criticize him, just to wonder at Hart being let go.
Context. Burnley dont play the same way we do. I read that a good portion of his 'passing' at Burnley was long balls.

I havent really seen him playing the ball so cant comment on his ability but just wanted to put some contect to those numbers.

And I was answering your question.
Sorry, it wasn't meant to be arsey, and certainly not meant at you.

My point stands though, people are taling about it as if something has actually happened and it is a done confirmed acceptance that Eddie is staying. All that's happened was one tweet suggests it. Btw, I want Eddie to stay

Not to derail, but I just read about it.

Example, If you finish 1st in the league phase, all your ties will have you at home in the second leg. If someone lower beats that team, they then inherit the 1st place teams ranking so will have their ties second leg at home

suppose it puts emphasis to finish as high as possible in the league phase

same as my previous response to another poster.

He will not have agreed to join us, to sit as number 2 when was guaranteed Number 1 at Newcastle or Burnley
I've just given you a couple of big reasons why he definitely could and an even bigger high profile example of it actually happening to suggest it's entirely plausible. You just saying he wont, doesn't really offer much.

Tbf I wouldn’t be against this. I can’t keep watching the Ederson to Akanji to Dias back to Akanji rodeo all of next season

Every time we went long we got Haaland moving and Eddie ended up with several assists

Keeping Ederson to have Trafford be his understudy for another year is the most ideal scenario.

I was hesitant of a Trafford - Ortega duo, but now seems like Ortega will leave.

Not sure I agree. Trafford is coming here to be first choice and needs regular game time. Ederson wants to leave and I’d rather focus on the future with Trafford

A season of basically Trafford on the bench - I’m not sure how we benefits from that

Planning for life post Pep.

Pep has his keeper for another year, then the new manager is given Trafford on top of a growing menagerie of existing, and so far underused, talent.
So traffords sitting on the bench for a season?

Gone from first choice at Burnley, probably Newcastle to then being a bench warmer. I can’t see it.
