it was time to break up the Ederson/Ortega/Carson trio and also I wanted to see a change in GK coaching department to refresh things. we still have Mancisidor and Wright I assume, it all got to comfortable imo in many ways.

If a nuclear missile hit Manchester tomorrow, Richard Wright would still be at the campus putting the cones out on Monday morning

It could be worse, he could have come from Scunthorpe or Penistone?

Penistone's finest

He played under Vinny in PL who wanted the ball passed out JT was proficient but the rest of the team weren’t he’s fine with his feet and will benefit from players who understand the system

Absolutely this. A passing keeper is only ever as good as the players giving him options.

Ortega played 22 games last year
Eddies played 40

I see top spot being shared 50/50 with eddie phasing out as the season goes on and handing over the mamtle fully before a send off on the last home game

I really wouldn't be surprised if James Trafford was our No.1 goalkeeper next season as there’s still alot of talk surrounding Ederson regarding his future, Trafford obviously has to prove himself at this level and nobody really knows how he's going to fair out although there's only one way to find out.

The main thing about this signing is Trafford wanted the move to City, He chose us over Newcastle and being realistic he'd have far more of a chance playing regularly at Newcastle as I don't think Pope is much use.

Trafford seems ambitious and feels he can play at this level. Let's hope it all goes to plan and welcome on board young man.

The goal keeping department is competing with the midfield department or the CB department to have the most players. Four first team squad keepers is a record.

Correct
State of some of the morons on here
Imagine thinking a keeper who grew up in our academy in the Pep era, saw off all rivals to become our all conquering EDS first choice, capped at all junior England levels, somehow can’t pass the ball.
Seemingly based on a couple of seasons on loan at EFL long ball merchants
Honestly, I think @Ric should introduce some form of IQ test before some of these mouth breathing cretins are allowed to post on here

Think by the end of the season he will be number one, doubt he starts it as first choice though.
