Looks like he is a good shot stopper from the video montage. So was Joe Hart.Great keeper

Pep wants someone who is comfortable with ball distribution too
Just the way our players are criticised and other teams players put on pedestalsWhy?
Is the price low? 27m is not that low imo.The price is so low its very low risk.
Ticks a lot of boxes and happy to give him a chance. If he fails to produce next season then we know when Eddie leaves that we need another.
Ortega has been brilliant and helped city win the league with the son save but he is not good enough for no 1.

I am excited about the signing btw.
I've seen people say that, but seems a bit mental acrobatics. That money has been long spent. He is a £27m signing. It is when you factor in the fact we sold him for between £14 and £19m; so he’s cost between £8m and £13m.
Homegrown tax, England's 3rd choice keeper, impressive number of clean sheets last season, Newcastle prepared to pay 27m , potential 10years service if hopefully all goes well, no brainer for me and if it doesn't work out we will recoup our investment, not that I dont think it will.Is the price low? 27m is not that low imo.

In what way has Ederson been mentally checked out in the last 18 months? This signing really could go either way.
I’m all for it in any case, think Ederson has kinda mentally checked out this last 18 months and we’re in need of a change.
Whether Trafford is the answer only time will tell. He looks the part though. Raw, and will have mistakes in him early on no doubt, but the core attributes are certainly there and from his interviews he certainly has that self belief/arrogance a top keeper needs.
The idea of having a young English lad from the academy who’s left, improved and returned with ambition to become our number one is really encouraging and exciting though. Ederson staying this year, seeing out his contract and leaving with a nice send off whilst smoothing over the GK transition is an absolute perfect scenario tbh.
If he leaves and Trafford is thrown in as our number 1 this season I hope our fans stick with him and give him time. Takes some balls and self belief to turn down a guaranteed starting spot and transfer to a club like Newcastle in favour of nailing down a spot for us, the club that ultimately let you go a few years back.
Everyone would be talking about his negatives and ‘he isn’t that good’ ‘never proven himself at this level’ ‘was poor last time he was in the PL’… usual football fan stuff.Just wonder how Trafford would have been looked at on here if he'd joined Newcastle.
Please tell me we are also working on hiring Burnley's goal keeping coach, It makes no sense signing a goalkeeper like him only to give him to Mancisidor who can't seem to tell the difference between a goalkeeper and a midfielder. Get in a traditional goalkeeping coach, so far the ones in Burnley seem to have done a good job with James.James Trafford stats from last season
104 shots faced , 16 goals conceded
88 saves , save percentage of 85%
13 goals prevented via 1v1
29 clean sheets
2 penalties faced , 0 conceded
30 high claims in the box, highest in the league
70.3% pass accuracy
209 accurate long balls
Long ball accuracy of 31% which is average for a keeper.
Average rating of a 7/10
He could go all Brazilian, and just use the first name.He has to change his 2nd name.
That's the only issue I see with this move.

You mean the coach that taught Trafford most of what he knows and the coach that coached treble winning 4 times in a row keeper Ederson.Your alright thanks think we'll stick with what we have. Please tell me we are also working on hiring Burnley's goal keeping coach, It makes no sense signing a goalkeeper like him only to give him to Mancisidor who can't seem to tell the difference between a goalkeeper and a midfielder.
