Surely the fact that we were willing to drop £60m on Alexis in the summer would mean the cash is still there? We were also willing to spend £30m on Evans on deadline day so not sure how we could be struggling for money?

That was me simply stating what Soriano was suggesting, that a deal for Sanchez in Jan was very unlikely and prepared to wait until the summer.

The sarcasm being we could always just cover the wages he is owed between now and then.

Things have changed, Silva's time off and Jesus injury. Sanchez can actually cover for both if he comes in.

Not just like that , no, but I'd expect us to try, somebody would need to make way in the squad. If we didn't think we could move Mangala, I don't think we'd be trying to bring another centre back in, unless Mendy is left out of the c/l squad.

Ah but we may have other targets lined up for the summer which limits what we can spend now.
