Jason Denayer brawl recording

Where does it say that in the law? I'm pretty sure it doesn't say "you can defend someone by punching their attacker in the back of the head, but don't think about kicking them!"

By Denayer's account he's turned around and seen his friend on the floor getting the crap beat out of him. He's run over and kicked the attacker. His foot doesn't seem to connect with the guy's head so I'm not even sure you can argue he kicked him in the head.

I doubt he's going to get in any trouble with the Police if this was him defending his friend from an attacker like he says.
The law generally allows a person to use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances for the purposes of self-defence. Similar rules apply to defence of someone else or defending property from an unlawful act.

Kicking someone in the head is not using reasonable force.

Had he been defending himself then i would suggest he might have a little bit of sympathy in the eyes of the law but even then, you cant just go about kicking someone in the head if its deemed to be unnecessary.

he is stood there with no danger to himself with 2 men on the floor in front of him. It doesnt look like there is immediate danger to life with what is happening between them so to then launch a kick into one of their heads is both cowardly and against the law as far as i'm concerned, its assault.

Im no police officer or lawyer and i suspect, neither are you so we can discuss this all day long, with little more than just our opinions of what has transpired mate.

Me, i think he is a **** for doing what he has done and he should be sacked.

You sure? Seems to stand aside for a bit whilst the blows are going in and when he kicks you see the guys body on the floro flinch in the opposite way

Looks to me like he kicks the guy dishing out the punches, and the Mail report seems to back that up:

Denayer claims his actions were in defence of his friend, dressed in black in the video

You know nothing about how badly the guy on the ground is beaten up, you don't see it from Denayers perspective, because that angle is not available.

You're right I'm not a policeman, lawyer or judge - I guess we'll be proven right one way or another when he's arrested/convicted (or not) for assault.

I'm 90% sure that you can act to defend someone who isn't you if they're getting beaten to a pulp on the pavement though. Any one of those punches to his friends head could have been fatal, so there is definitely imminent danger.

I also take issue with the idea that stopping a violent attack on a third person is in any way cowardly too. For all Denayer knew the guy could have been carrying a knife or gun, and yet he's run over to defend his friend.

No but as ive said now 3 times, i do know he has kicked someone in the fucking head.

You can defend it, i wont!

Imagine for a second he grabs the guy and tries to drag him off along with the others who are there?

Sounds reasonable?

What would you think and say if that was a Police officer turning up to the fight and the first action of one of them is to kick the guy in the head?

Reasonable behaviour?

You can, with reasonable and necessary force.

So,let's first see if charges are brought.
