He has to go on loan unless either Demi or Manga are sold or he can play RB and replace Sagna (before moving into the centre later)

If he was just to be one of 4 CBs he won't get enough games to make it worth it for any party

Why would he be sent on loan when he's the best CB on the team? Mangala is a bust Kompany has been shambolic Demichelis is in the twilight of his career.
I have great hopes for Denayer and would certainly have him in the first team squad competing for starts next season but it's just ridiculous to label Mangala a "bust".
He's had a stop-start season trying to settle in with a team that's unravelling, competing for game time with the club captain and another player who's a favourite of the manager and played in a WC Final just a few months ago.
I'm anticipating that a new manager will change the personnel and the attitude within the team for the better with more pace, more desire and more resilience than the current group.
I hope both Denayer and Mangala will grow into being the heart of our CB's for years to come. It may be another year or two before that occurs but that is a realistic prospect IMO.

Watching Mangala so far I must say he has been awful , no composure , bad positioning and he is rash with decision making. It is indeed too early to write him off and he may just be struggling to settle or adapt to the high quality of the Premiership which happens , see Lovren at Liverpool.

I don't think the big league will phase Denayer , playing in Europe or International level hasn't. He has shown great maturity and isn't egotistical at all , he is a very grounded young man with an old head on young shoulders. I think Kompany is the perfect partner for him as they counter balance each other. Kompany is a more aggressive ball winner where as Denayer is the patient game reader who is excellent at covering his partner. He plays great with Van Dyke considering they are both very young and up until the turn of the year I would of said Van Dyke was quite a bit better , but now Denayer has progressed beyond him which amazes me as Van Dyke is very good and has great potential as well.

I am a Celtic fan and I must say that Denayer is a tremendous talent who has progressed at an incredible rate this season. This boy has it all , he reads the game well , his positioning is excellent and he rarely makes mistakes if ever. He is very quick yet he isn't dependent on his pace because of his intelligence. What impresses me most is the composure and the comfort on the ball , he never wastes it and is comfortable going forward with it.

I really hope City do the right thing by him because he most definitely could/will be world class. I am certain there will be bids coming in for him in the summer considering the amount of scouts watching Van Dyke.

Denayer is a special and rare talent , don't let him slip through your fingers.

Thank you for the insight, welcome to the forums.

Most of us hope we give him a chance in the first team next season but we are undoubtedly weary considering our form with youth the past couple years that he might be wasted.

mangala is going to be a beast.

Mangala will come good. It's very important to have a strong player who can battle physically in this league. I think he will show his true worth with us next season. He's quick, good on the ball and needs a solid run in the side.

As for Denayer - well... what an advert for the academy. He reads the game well, he's quick, composed and he is also a lot better than many thought at competing aerially. If you were up against a Lukaku or Costa... how would he cope? A lot better with someone like Mangala next to him. I'm not concerned one bit about our poor defending or if Kompany regains form. We have enough talent to be okay. More energy in the defensive areas in midfield would also help protect the back 4, which hasn't happened this season. At times it's been as easy as a training ground routine for the opposition. When Young and Fellaini tear you open time and time again then you know you are in trouble as a side.

I don't understand the talk of Denayer replacing Mangala.

Mangala/Denayer could potentially be a great partnership and I think that'll be our future CB pairing.

I think you're right, those that have written Mangala off,in his first season in a new league, where his manager hasn't done him any favours, will be eating their words.

I still believe Denayer may benefit from another season of regular football elsewhere - Especially as we have given Demichelis an extension.

Doubts remain over Denayer's immediate future but his ability is clear for all to see

Youthful shyness, arrogant aloofness, second language communication and unwillingness to reveal too much about contract negotiations were all possible explanations for his reticence on being presented with the SPFL young-player-of-the-month award for March yesterday, but Jason Denayer's authoritative on-field displays have also spoken forcefully for themselves.

Still a teenager the Belgian central defender has even outshone fellow Low Countryman Virgil Van Dijk at club level while the Manchester City-loanee also helped his national team rise to an all-time high of fourth place in edging past the Dutch in the world rankings.

That international appearance perhaps offered an indicator of things to come as he came off the bench against Israel to help secure a one-nil win following the dismissal of Vincent Kompany, City's club captain and there is a sense that it is only a matter of time before he is recalled to The Etihad, for all that he sought to show his current employers due respect yesterday.

"I'm happy to win this award, I feel as though I had a good month. I also played for my national team and that helped me a lot," he was coaxed into saying.

"I feel that I have improved a lot from the start of the season, I'm a more mature player and my style of play is also different from when I first arrived.

"I am much better with aerial duals and that that type of thing. When I first came to Celtic I wasn't at the level that I am now.

"These aspects of my game have improved a lot. I'm also much better tactically but playing every week has been a massive benefit. Some of the strikers I come up against in Scotland are big and a bit different to what I have been used to but I have improved with every game.I only try to focus my mind on what is happening at Celtic and try to do my best for them.

"I always to give my best level for Celtic, that's what I need to do if I'm to reach the highest level in football."

That ultimately means playing alongside, if not edging out Kompany at both club and international level, but he has rightly received nothing but encouragement from his compatriot.

"He (Kompany) told me 'well done' and that I just had to keep going," said Denayer.

"I want to play at a big club and it's a dream to play at a big club but for now I just focus on Celtic. I don't think about playing for someone else at another club. I don't know if I'll be here next season.

"Moving to Celtic for the first season was the perfect thing for me to improve myself. After that, I don't know."

It is unfair to neither player nor club to note that implicit in those observations is that Celtic can only be a stepping stone to bigger and better things in the current climate and Denayer claims not to know if he will be there next season, while his current boss remains hopeful of keeping him but admits he return to Manchester for pre-season training, that there are no guarantees thereafter and that contingency planning is afoot.

"It would be a tough jump to go into matches at City," Ronnie Deila observed, after roundly praising every aspect of the youngster's game..

"He is a very ambitious boy and there is a lot of that when you are young... but I think patience is unbelievably important when you are young.

"He has played a lot of games here and if he does that even one more year then that would make him more ready for the next stage. If it was me, I would be more patient but I'm not in charge of that.

"We will see what happens but it is very hard just now. We will look for a central defender anyway, one maybe two."

I think it's shocking that he only has 1 year left on his contract. Who the fuck didn't sign him up long term back when he was in the EDS and his talent was clear for all to see?

He holds every single card from now on in negotiations, we hold none.

I can't believe the stupidity of the club here.

From another article, although I believe its the same 'interview'.......He also said this......

‘I haven’t spoken to Patrick Vieira or anyone at City but I hope they are happy with my progress'

which I find very strange, and concerning.
