I was in Tenerife earlier this month and bobbed down to see if there was any Blues about - and it was shut! :-(

I don’t live there anymore mate. Pop over a few times a year from the mainland so will go to different places if there when City are playing.

You managed to raise two productive members of society. Fair dues to you and them. But imagine one had hung out with some idiot that led him into a string of nightmare situations.

It was my job, as a parent, to nip that in the bud.

Who didn’t have one of those? Again, it has to be managed by an actively engaged parent, with love and support. But, it has to be addressed early, as soon as it rears its ugly head.

You are lucky.

From year 0 to about 2010, I was an absolutely bang average parent. Somewhere in there, parental abdication and surrender to the ridiculous desires of kids seemingly blossomed. Maybe, my luck was simply being dumb enough to have had kids in 96 & 98, and having them sorted before trouble came their way.

FWIW, they both had their troubles as kids, which will remain private, but they were sorted out with both strong parenting and a little assistance. Again, bang average for most families I know.

Not everyone is so lucky. We should be helping them until they are ready. There is plenty of time for teens to get a regular education. They come out of college too early anyway.

IMO it's like wanting your kid to be good at sport. You need them to love it first. We need troubled kids to want to be better at something positive.

You can’t have it both ways…kids can’t be coming out of college too soon AND the world has to wait for them to “find their passion.” I’m on my third career. I clearly didn’t find my “passion” until society didn’t give a fuck and thought I was old enough to be a fuck up or work my ass off to change doing what I wanted.

While I agree, we are all different, a just, sound and productive society can’t function without strongly defined guardrails, which can’t depend on the whims of “adult children.”

PS. I agree on devices, uniforms, prison, etc. We need respect and fairness all round.

Respect, indeed. A distinct lack of that amongst a large swath of our youngsters these days. Mine learned that lesson early, because the alternative was deemed disadvantageous to their near future!

Goes on holiday with female who's not his girlfriend - check

Leaves a nightclub with two men who he doesn't know - check

Leaves an apartment on his own after staying there for a short time, presumably the two lads he went with have left to go elsewhere, have they dumped him after "using" him - check

Seems to have a few female friends who he's not involved in relationships with - check

The 2 blokes he left the nightclub with have to my understanding disappeared, surely it can't be difficult to trace these 2 if they booked the house on Air BnB?

Something very odd obviously, still the possibility of him being alive and it's a scam that's gone wrong, if he is alive he's got a lot of questions to answer.

You mean Ten Bel? Yeah that was one of the very first purpose built resorts on the island but became left behind once the south was developed.

Just had a look at the just giving page - they've raised 29k already

"Hi everyone my name is Lucy. I have come on holiday to Tenerife to attend the NRG festival with my friend Jay & another friend. On the last day of the festival, I left alone, earlier than everyone else, because I was tired from the weekend. I woke up to a phone call off Jay at 8:30 AM saying “he was lost in the mountains, he wasn’t aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink & his phone was on 1%”. He had met 2 people on Sunday night and left with them to go to their apartment. Their apartment was miles away from civilisation and in a very secluded location. He left at 8am, and walked half an hour before frantically ringing me when his phone reached 1%. This was 3 days ago now, and no one has seen or heard from him since. His last location was on an off road track, which was a 10 hour walk from his hotel. The weather conditions up there are terrible for someone in shorts & a t-shirt, both in the day & at night. He has no water for when it’s warm through out the day, and he has no coat/suitable clothing for when it’s cold at night. It was 1 degree and extremely windy when I was out looking in the middle of the night We are all so worried and we just want him home. Please help if you can and share far and wide. Thank you for reading "
