Manchester City tries to go shopping in Catalonia. The club Mancini would in fact planning an offensive to Jean Marie Dongou, 17 year old striker of Barcelona called by many as the new Samuel Eto'o.

I have seen some videos of this kid and whilst he looks a top class finisher, you have to be so careful in signing African kids, their physicality is by far above everybody else at youth level resulting in them dominating at that age.

If you look at the opposition he is against and compare the size and build of Dongou compared to them you can see it could possibly be another example of an African player having so much praise and promise but forgetting his build enables him to dominate his level.

i remember hearing about him when he was 14, and apparently barca coaches reckoned he was the closest player to messi ability-wise at the same age

When someone is referred to as the new "Eto'o" or the new "Messi" etc you just know they are going to end up having a completely average career.

I've watched him play in a handful of Barca B matches last year and he's a very good player for his age. I'd expected him to struggle a bit more now that he's reaching levels where his physicality is less likely to have an impact on the game (as opposed to playing against youth players). Surprised that his technique and workrate really shone through.

There's no chance we could secure him though, he's progressing well and I'd expect to see him on the barca bench for a game or two towards the end of this year as he enters the second phase of his development based on the barca model.

Phase 1: Part of Barca B squad
Phase 2: Train with and learn from first team
Phase 3: Key player with Barca B

So unless he becomes heavily disillusioned with his chances of making the first team in a year or two he's likely to continue his progress towards the first team. One of Barca's top talents at the moment alongside Deulofeu and Samper who are the other two I'd expect to make it for the first team if they continue to work hard and develop.

Barcelona's biggest enemy is itself. If they don't win the league (which is highly unlikely), or don't reach the final of the champions league, then there could be a move to remove Villanova. If they did then, unless the next manager was Pep again, or another internal promotion, then the next manager might have some very different idea's.
