Come on lads, Jesus Navas was a master of 'take ons' before repeatedly hitting is cross into the first man.

I've never seen this lad play, and I'm sure he's probably a decent player given that we're interested; but let's not start using take ons as a judge of a player.

If he's even got a half decent end product he could prove to be a great signing.

The problem with using these stats is that they aren't really illustrative of anything.

Yes, Doku has a lot of take ons - playing for Rennes in the Rennes style in the French league. That doesn't translate to how City play or how talented PL fullbacks generally are.

Weirdly enough, I do think we need someone of that kind in the squad… just thought/hoped we’d be aiming for a player from a higher caliber (Mbappe, Vinicus, Leao) to try mixing our possession and retention (Grealish) needs with the making things happen / fast turnover stuff.

City generally don't buy superstars - we buy players who become superstars here. One or two exceptions aside.
