Jerome Boateng - The Sun article

I am not on here to insult anyone or to argue but it seems to me to be you who is throwing the insults around.

What you of course would never do:

Being in Germany since 1984 I am aware that the average schalke fan has eyebrows that meet in the middle and paws that drag along the floor.
Don't expect better of people of neanderthal intellect.
Most Schalke fans have to take their socks off to count to 20.

or in your own words
don't start whining, you are on an English forum

in my experience of meeting people from around the world the germans were amongst the best.

I recently met a Dortmund fan abroad and had a drink with him, seemed a cracking bloke and wished city well.

so to all the people on this board slating german people, don't.

just because boateng is a bellend doesn't mean all german people are.

Sorry my bad, bavarian arrogance. Everyone connected to your club has wrote us off. Commentas like "we are bayern", "we have 6 players who play for the national team" sound arrogant to me..

These are normal pre game comments, read some of what Dzeko and Silva have been saying, it's exactly the same.

-- Tue Sep 27, 2011 3:57 pm --

I was referring to City. If a Schalke fan has a dig at me I'm entitled to have one back and then some.
If you dish it out you have to be prepared to take it.

What do you expect him to say?

I think City may beat us tonight or I wish I'd stayed now as City are realy coming together?

He's not said anything particularly nasty about anyone or the fans - I don't see what all the fuss is about.

I sincerely doubt he said it at all, and at worst, it is a terrible paraphrase. He probably suggested Bayern was more of a gelled team than City, who (rightly) has had a high number of player turnover over the last 3 years. That is just fact.

As for those reaping him and calliing him a coward for leaving, are your serious? You expect a Fringe German International to give up an opportunity to go start for the biggest team in Germany and most likely cement his place on the german team, just to show heart fighting for a starting spot on on an upstart big team in a different league?

That is laughable. He'd have been a real idiot to turn down the opportunity.

Some of you have to get it into your head that the world does not revolve around City. Shit happens elsewhere you know. Sometimes it just happens a player is not a good fit somewhere, and when such a player is lucky enough to have an opportunity open up somewhere else where he is a better fit, and his chances at international football is greatly improved, he'd be a donkey not to take it.

Well said Dax.
It didn't happen for him at City but we got our money back and he got a good move. Happy days.
I suspect a bit of banter in the interview and hope we stuff 'em tonight to show him that we will leapfrog them into Europe's elite.

This is just common sense. Lord! Some of us are beginning to sound like bloody Arsenal fans. Shame really.

Good post.
It's the sort of think any player says before a game. As usual the likes of the Sun (in England) or Bild (in Germany) deliberately twist it out of context to cause a bit of trouble.

he shouldn't say anything.

why is it that before every game we play a member of the opposition comes out and says this and that? what happened to people shutting the fuck up and getting on with it?

If as J. Boateng says we don't have team spirit, for a team without that spirit we're playing very well. Just think if we can get that team spirit of togetherness, we will be come a team that no one whats to play against.

Have you an opinion on Dzeko making the same sort of comments in the other direction in todays German press ?

I take them with a pinch of salt, they are probably made up anyway. Why get upset about a few wind ups ? It's all part of the game. People these days are often just too sensitive imo.

Having lived in NRW I met fans from Koln, Fortuna, Bocum, Dortmund all sound and great lads. I don't have a problem with Germans, far from it as we have a lot in common. Bavaria and Suttgart for that matter were completely different and I felt that there was a certain arrogance. My perception I am afraid not xenophobia as some state. Perhaps I should have usedba different word to describe boateng... ****.
To all the bayern fans there is a difference when YOUR players start saying there is no spirit when they have no idea. I have no problem with players saying they're going to win, it's when they talk shit as boateng has done.
Finally whilst we welcome you on our forums it is afterall City forum.
