Well if sort of do a sort reboot like JJ did with Star Trek, they could use different actors but the same characters, or they will use Mark Hamill as an older Jedi to link the films together and hand the baton on. The Thrawn Trilogy would be good but Hamill would be too old to play Luke, I think they will go in a completely different direction and its now been reported Abrams wants to push it back to 2016 so he's not rushing it, he did this with Star Trek sequel and that looks damn good.

They ought to make the Thrawn novels into films. Better than the actual storylines behind the films... at least the new trilogy. Grand Admiral Thrawn was a godly antagonist and tactical genius.
