João Félix

To be honest haven't seen much of him.

Obviously very very talented but the question will be whether he can do it in a top league.

He doesn't have the blistering pace to get him out of trouble, so will have to toughen up.

It"s far too much money though, for someone who doesn't have that extra pace to enable a player to make an impact even on a bad day, but it's not my money.

(And I don't believe we'll bid it).

I was hoping he'd have an anonymous game. People can be far too quick to judge a player's ability based on a single performance. Imagine the media frenzy if he'd scored a hat trick & the subsequent rise in his stock. He's 19 and playing in his first full international game. Another game like that in the final (especially if it's against England) would be perfect. Just to be clear, I think we should hang on to Gabby; he's going to be a star.

The problem for Gabby is that Sergio has been in superb form, hence his lack of playing time.
I have a £100 bet with a fellow Blue Mooner that he will not be here for the start of the 2021/22 season. How long Sergio can keep going is anyones guess but his contract IIRC is only for another 2 seasons.Whether Gabby wants to stay as the Clubs "number two striker" for want of a better phrase, for those next couple of years that Sergio has left, who knows.
Yes he will get game time in certain competitions but whether Pep decides to use him for more PL starts is highly unlikely IMO,based on Sergios greater work rate and goal scoring, season after season.
Its a tricky one for the lad,as it is for young Foden ... will they both get more PL game times ?
I guess we`ll have to trust Pep.As usual. ;)

Tough for him last night, Rrnaldo means that more or less everyone else is sacrificed. First time I had watched him, felt for him in that role really, even Barnardo struggled to get involved for 30 minutes, until he went looking for the ball. The system will make the rest of the team look poorer, but as long as they provide for the queen bee, it will continue.

I didn't see the game, but Bernardo has indeed not looked anywhere near what he really is in that side during the WC.

The way the manager had them play football was not really conducive to his skills and he was also invisible. Sounds like they've still not gone more attacking which seems odd given the talent they have in those areas now.

Leads me also to wonder how that would impact Felix, so I might be reluctant to make too much of a so so performance.

Never seen him play so can't comment, but from what I've read on here he's not very good at anything.
So the question arises, what do Pep and Txiki see in him that they would consider paying over £100 mill for him.
One thing that crosses my mind is that Pep likes players with footballing intelligence, maybe that is what he has that a lot people are missing.

We play a different system than most and our coach is the best in the world. One thing that players always say is that Pep makes the game simple. You have a very specific task in the team and the team has very specific objectives. What is not simple is actually being able to do it: that requires a very specific skillset of high technical proficiency and an exemplary work ethic. If we manage to sign Felix, it will only be because Pep believes that he has what it takes. Judging a player in other games, one-offs at that, is not recommended, especially when the team plays nothing like the team we are.
