Jo Swinson

No, I never said she was a “fan”. The link I posted literally said that in the first paragraph, if you bothered to read it:

“Ms Swinson has always been pro-EU, but also said there are significant problems with it”

Would love to hear your take on some of Boris Johnson’s more considerable about turns regarding Brexit, but suspect they’ll fall on deaf ears.
I didn’t read it , I’d posted one where Swinson was very clear that she wanted a referendum on whether to leave the EU which countered it

Johnson changes like the wind but the thread’s about Jo Swinson

I said in this thread or another that it’s choosing the lesser of a number of evils and personally, I am backing Johnson over the others as he is making progress (or is trying to).. the WA is likely to be pulled apart and if that’s necessary so be it.. I worry however that it will morph into something that is unacceptable then we’re in the shit....

Who knows, maybe she’s changed her opinion over the past 11 years? As mentioned, I don’t really care either way but I still think it’s disingenuous to claim that she campaigned to leave. We’re going round in circles though and it’s late, so I’ll leave it there.
The issue is the vociferous tone she has right now when discussing leavers, particularly as she might have actually been one at some point.... whipped or not

Listening to what she herself actually said, it is far from disingenuous. Of course she can change her mind, as we all can, but she needs to say so to have any credibility. She obviously did have a least an inclination to leave (otherwise why push for a vote ?).

If there is a GE this will haunt her I think. Cant believe it hasn't surfaced before.
But it’s irrelevant, ask Ric

But seriously, if that clip makes you scrutinise her words or her policy a little more then it did its job...

Whatever happens from here I think we are making really tough choices because we have to, not because we want to

Sorry for not keeping up.

Just as an aside Ric, who will you be voting for in a GE ?
Not sure yet. My incumbent MP (now an independent) is likely to stand down, so I will have to wait and see who the prospective candidates are. Conversely, it’s a safe Labour seat so probably wouldn’t matter anyway.

Ok can I phrase it another way ? Who would you like to win the GE ?

Not as safe as mine! I think the Libdems got about 3% * at the last GE. Sadly, I was one of them. What a fucking waste of time. Our voting system is so wank.

* I checked; 2.8%. 1,156 hardly souls.

That’s only about 500 less than they got around our way!

So on Brexit would you prefer revoke (Lib Dem), or anyone's guess of (labour) leave with the current deal, another deal that Jezzer might (or might not) get, or remain ?
On Brexit, I personally favour a confirmatory referendum - Johnson’s deal vs Remain.

Remain, obviously. Why?

Because, after 3.5 years of this, I will never understand why people who seriously want to remain in the EU, will not vote for the only party that categorically states it will revoke article 50 and stay in the EU. I didn't in 2017 and still don't now. Ive had abuse for asking the question, but never had a proper answer. Corbyn detests the EU, yet remainers vote for him ?
