He is going on loan to Crystal Palace on loan with a view of a permanent deal. Gutted as I thought he had the potential to break through.

Can't see any reference to a permanent deal and also I can't see city doing that to a player that is highly rated and just starting out

Manchester City’s Spanish starlet Juan Roman is set to move to Dougie Freedman’s Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season.

Highly-rated Roman cannot break into Roberto Mancini’s all-star squad and will be allowed out – possibly with a view to a permanent departure.

Roman, 18, signed for City from Espanyol and has caught the eye with skillful performances for their reserve and ‘development’ sides. But he is well down the pecking order at Eastlands.

Palace chief Freedman wants his money men to give him some cash for a couple of loans and wants Roman signed this week ahead of an attractive run of matches

apart from guidetti at most I cant see any youth players making it with us, there never given a chance anymore

Razak, Roman, Suarez and Guidetti have a good chance IMO

The "view to a permanent deal" is all gossip at this stage but his contract does run out at the end of the season. 18 years old is far too young to be making a decision on a lad of Roman's talent when Championship players like McGivern, Mee, and Cunningham have stayed/remain on the books at 20+. Granted that 98% of our kids will not make it but Roman is one of our most impressive players at reserve level so we should offer him a new contract. A loan move is good for now.

Rubbish, both Rekik and Suarez have experienced first team football this season, also we have several excellent prospects on loan at decent clubs - all doing well and looking to impress.

IF they are good enough they will get their chance.

Razak has as well.

Will be gutted if he leaves permanently, as has been said he is 18 so plenty of time to improve and come back to the team.

Razak, Roman and Guidetti are the stand out players from the current academy generation with Suarez and Rekik forming the next generation of academy graduates i think.

Training with us for 10 days.

Maybe a loan NEXT season.

Odd that Suarez hasn't got a loan deal yet.
Wouldn't say it's really odd. He's just 18 in his first year in the country so probably more important that he integrates into the club. Wouldn't be surprised even next year if he went on loan if it was in the way of 2-3 shorter spells like Razak.

He's gone from training with the Celta Vigo reserves to training with the big guns and he'd be getting as much out of that as a loan spell to a Championship club where he may not have anyone else speaking Spanish. The reports from the recent Spanish under 19s matches he was involved in seemed to suggest his development over this season was quite clear.

He wasn't just "training with Celta reserves" he was logging match time. The great English mistake is that somehow foreign youngsters are aliens that need to be coddled into a life of pies and chips. Suarez needs real competing match time to develop. I rate him very highly, it's no secret. He has the vision and understanding of the game that can't be taught. But some of the things he needs to learn can only come from week in, week out performances of the competitive nature.
