Joao Cancelo | Al Hilal Player

How do you think his friends will react to him being treated like that? What would it do to the spirit and team morale in the camp? How often do clubs with a fractured dressing room win trophies? Why do clubs who are successful always talk about the atmosphere in the dressing room?

Might explain why we won’t do it.
If the narrative is true, it was Cancelo that was a disruptive influence in the squad.

Exactly. If what was widely reported is true, I would be more concerned about what his presence does to people like Rico than concerning ourselves with hurting his feelings. Yes, clubs that are successful have good dressing room atmospheres. But that doesn’t mean you have to make every personality fit. Sometimes a good dressing room means knowing who to have in the dressing room in the first place.

Of course we can’t be sure exactly what happened. But given the wide array of reports, something happened. And the fact that he’s a decent player but has been moved around quite a bit, probably indicates there might be some issues.

It was bad enough to let Cancelo go mid-season without anyone coming in to take his place. The performances leading to Cancelo departing were very sketchy. Along with the FFP charges being announced after the Spurs defeat the squad atmosphere was poor.

If we would have replaced him do you reckon we would have won oult in 2022/23 season?

It would seem if you make an enemy of Pep you will never play for this club again in any meaningful game.
That's the way it's been since Pep came. To select Cancelo again would be a departure from the above, I can't see it.
His agent will be busy trying to get him a last minute loan anywhere although his options are now more limited.
We're over a barrel on his contract or loan fee in his last year but it appears we don't give a fuck about the money.

Just seen Barca are offering a £23m package comprised of a £6m loan fee for this season and a £17m obligation to buy next season. Or is this old (non) news?
