Joe Anderson (Liverpool Mayor)

(alledgedly!) The ramifications of this very much stretch to Manchester in that as you drive around the rimg road there is a concrete frame part completed as you come around the ring road from the arena towards the Renault garage. Developed by one of the persons named as part of this investigation.

Couid say plenty more but will wait until this all unfolds.

This goes a lot further than property.

One day I will recall the story of when I couldn’t agree a final account with a scouse scaffolding company. It ended up with me swimming very close to Fred’s weather map.
not sure it's the same these days but about 10 or so years back the only scaffolders working in Liverpool were based in Liverpool. Manchester companies weren't interested, and there were many stories of smaller firms who would take work, scaffolding out one day only to find the lot dismantled the day after. Proper cartel at the time

There are plenty thst do it out of a sense of civic duty alone.
Ime, many do start out with the right intentions mate., but soon move over to the dark side and jump on the gravy train, call it "institutionalised self interest and pocket lining", and thus become too worried about rocking the boat and losing their place, Derek Hatton is a good example, I knew him back in the day from my Militant days as a youngster, this is the sort of thing he absolutely hated back then.

about 15 years ago I was developing a job next to the echo arena. The job was close to the end but the scaffolder was refusing to take an elevation of scaffold down until I paid a ridiculous final account so we were at a stand off. I arranged 15 agency scaffolders in Manchester to go down on a Saturday morning and solve the stand off by taking the scaffold down. All was going well for the first hour when about 5 Land Rovers turned up. I was with my kids as well as it was my weekend not long after one of the divorces. The kids were about 2 and 5. Next minute I am being dangled over the dock water and told I have crossed the line. I was chucked in the water from what felt like about twenty foot and then struggled like mad to get out fully decked in rigger boots, hi vis coat etc. I honestly thought I was going to drown. Took me about twenty minutes to get out and I stumbled up some steps eventually only to be greeted by chief knobhead scouse scaffolder who lobbed me back in.

An eventful morning that was.
