Joe Corrigan MBE

I have submitted a complaint to them
I got a reply to my complaint from the BBC and at least they have now added Joe to the list:-

Dear Mr Pollard,

Thanks for contacting us regarding the article 'Southgate knighted in New Year Honours - full list' published on the BBC Sport website:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cg4zpngy2k7o

We note your concerns that Joe Corrigan's name didn't appear on the article after he was awarded an MBE.

We'd assure you, that there was never any intention to cause offence or disappointment by not originally including his name.

We can confirm that the article has since been updated to include Joe Corrigan's name on the MBE list for his services to charitable fundraising.

We very much value your feedback. Complaints are sent to senior management and we’ve included your points in our overnight reports. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC. This ensures that your concerns have been seen by the right people quickly, and helps to inform decisions about current and future content.

If you’d like to understand how your complaint is handled at the BBC, you might find it helpful to watch this short film https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints It explains the BBC’s process for responding to complaints and how we share the feedback we receive.

Kind regards,

Neil Salt

Like others on here Big Joe was my first City hero. I have certain memories that will never fade. He was a great keeper and should have had loads more England caps than the nine he got. My biggest shock with Joe was in January 1979, Gay Meadow, me as a 12 year old kid stood behind the goal as City took a battering from the mighty Shrewsbury, hearing my hero swear as some bloke shouted something toward Joe. I vividly remembering him turning round next to the goal line wearing his tracksuit bottoms on the rock hard icy pitch and Joe shouting, 'Don't fucking tell me, tell them'......wow I was so shocked, I never knew my hero could swear.

Big Joe was very resepcted. Following City away as a young kid, I saw that he always got a great reception from fans in the home end, apart from maybe at Leeds and the Rags and I don't think he gave a fuck about that, but I am sure he must have felt good with the receptions he got from other fans who recognised him as a great keeper, yes, ever Scousers!

Congratulations Big Joe!!!
Nice post. Watched big Joe a lot in the 70’s and early 80’s. One game in particular still sticks in the mind after so many years - think it was the 77-78 season home to Birmingham with Trevor Francis on fire.
We won 3-0 but the story was really about an incredible set of saves Joe made from Francis and the rest. He was truly remarkable that day

Well done Big Joe, what a gentleman and by fuck what a keeper …
England’s number one….
I remember when he altered direction, in mid air to deny Alan Clarke at Leeds scoring from 2 yards out .. Incredible save…
Guess what, Stepney got save of the season that year for a routine tip over the bar, fuck all changes eh … :-)

I seem to remember that being on Blue Peter about the greatest saves with Peter Shilton being the judge.
