Love Joe but surely that was a huge miss by Pepe as opposed to a remarkable save from Hart. That Casemiro save was, IMO, better
You missed my point. I was suggesting having a better back up keeper should make Joe further improve.

Yeah you can say that but GK isnt our immediate issue at the moment, and if you just want to give joe a kick on the back when he is not upto the mark or gets complacent, you could do that by selecting the second keeper in league games like pellers did when he dropped him and when he came back he was back to his best
I don't know for sure but what most seem to be saying is that Pep wants his keeper to be an all round player, comfortable in all aspects of goalkeeping, particularly with the ball at their feet. Would you agree that Joe does need improving in certain aspects of his game and having fiercer competition will surely motivate him to retain his #1 spot by developing additional skills.
All well and good relegating your keeper when he is out of form, but if we have an opportunity to improve on Willy (who I rate), then we should take it as the brucie bonus is that it should make Joe even better.
No arguments from me that we need players elsewhere
Alot is being made of joe's ability to distribute and pep wants his keeper to be all round player but if you see out of all the manager's joe has played under, "Quick distribution" wasn't the style of any one, not mark hughes, nor manchini, pellegerini or roy hodson even
so a keeper who might end up winning the golden glove again this season and is a fantastic shot stopper deserves his chance to prove himself under pep for first season at least with willy as a decent back up
Why do you believe I might be suggesting Joe won't be given the chance to improve.
i wasnt talking about you i was just talking about this myth that joe cant be a pep player
Who is he, Messi? Surely, he is not that stupid. Sure if Pep favors a Libero goalie, yes he has an advantage. But if he can't show the ability to make the type of safes Joe makes, he is going to be on the bench and sold soon enough.Ter Stegen won't come to us to compete for a spot. He's willing to leave Barca unless he's guaranteed the number 1 spot.
