I thought Joe Hart had signed a long term contract recently? The Sun are reporting:

MARTIN O’NEILL is close to wrapping up a summer deal for Manchester City keeper Joe Hart.
The Aston villa boss will shell out around £3million for the England Under-21 star, who is out of contract at Eastlands in June.
Hart, 21, has found his first-team opportunities limited since the £14million arrival of Shay Given from Newcastle.
The Shrewsbury-born ace believes he can make the breakthrough at Villa Park as well as getting European experience next season.
Villa, meanwhile, have extended their shirt sponsorship deal with the Acorns Children’s Hospice for a second season.
The club won huge praise for the move and have again rejected the chance to secure a money-spinning sponsorship deal.
They will carry the Acorns logo on their shirts for free to help the hospice continue to raise funds.

4 things wrong with that

1) As you mentioned hart is under a long term contract it is sturridge that is out of contract in the summer

2) If he was out of contract in summer why would it cost 3m to buy him unless u class the 3m as being in wages etc

3) Given did not cost anything like 14m

4) And the most blatantly obvious is that its in the sun so obviously is about as truthful as the beano

While we obviously feel annoyed by the idiots in the media - it is just that...an annoyance.

The scary thing is that people believe this just as they believe the rubbish about nonsense alternative medicines, immigration etc in the sun, mail, express etc.

I remember a moment of clarity when I read an article in a well respected newspaper by a very well respected journalist about the benefits system a few years ago (an area I was working in). It was full of so many mistakes it was untrue. I have believed very little since!
