Probably the biggest decision that Pep will make this summer in many respects because the ramifications one way or another will be enormous. Personally I think there's very little chance that Joe goes anywhere. However I wouldn't put it past Pep to sign a keeper, watch them in pre season training, and then let that keeper start the season as number 1 and make Joe fight his way in.

Personally I think that'd be a mistake. Joe should remain number 1 for all of next season at least.

I would be very confused if Pep makes finding a new goalkeeper a priority because if there is one position we do not need to worry about too much, it is our goalkeeper in my opinion. Especially when you are talking about the ter Stegen rumours and figures of £20m+

I'd much rather see us spend that kind of money on our defense and midfield.

Its not a priority position for this summer so i doubt very much he will be going anywhere.

Like every single player we have though, he will need to adapt and show Pep that he is worthy of a future and for me, that's how it should be.

Yes. The season after that I'm not so sure.

He better be! We're low on the English quota and he's the best there is.

No way Pep is so swept up in the sweeper keeper that he pushes Joe out. No way.

I've grown to appreciate Joe Hart more and more over the seasons I'be been a City fan.

Though he's had some inconsistent spells, he's clearly an excellent shot stopper and his distribution has improved tremendously. Hart is a top keeper in my book - top 10 this year for me.

Personally I like Joe and would love to see him back next year.

But, Joe is not a sweeper.
==============
Pep's style in the past is to have a sweeper at the back.

But at the same time, it seems that our squad isn't nearly in the shape that Pep would want - due to age and ability.

Pep can't change everything at once - so maybe he "lives" with a non-sweeper between the sticks.

So, what do you think?

Will Pep sign a sweeper-keeper next season? If he does I think Joe should leave the squad - he's way too talented to play backup (and maybe even Pep wouldn't want him as backup).

I think it's more likely than not that Hart isn't with us next season - maybe transferred in the Winter window.

Guardiola has got enough to worry about without concerning himself with a new number one keeper.

DeMichelis has left, Yaya is going, I can't see Zabba and Kolarov staying, Fernando isn't good enough and we need a right winger. So there's 6 positions that need filling before we even start.

I think it would be sensible to bring in Victor Valdes as second choice, promote one of the youth team kids as 3rd and get rid of Willy.

It's funny with Hart that his distribution is considered his main weakness. When he first broke through he had excellent distribution. I remember Capello with England absolutely slaughtered him for giving the ball away in a game at Wembley and every since he's been really cautious when he has the ball.

I don't think it's a lack of technique that holds him back, it's his mentality and decision making. I think that can be improved greatly under Pep. He will set the team up so that Hart will have obvious options when he gets the ball and he'll be instructed where to give it until it becomes second nature. I think he'll be fine.

Agreed.

As I've said, I think Joe's season this year has been world class.

It's more about whether or not Pep can live with a non-sweeper at the back, especially given the amount of change which seems necessary elsewhere in our squad.

But, I'd not be at all surprised to learn that one of Pep's first signings is Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
