How do people on here know that Joe defied Pep in the 2nd half of the Arsenal game?

Pep for all we know told him to just do what he had been doing, don't bother trying to pass it etc as we know you haven't got the ability.

I like Hart, been a big part of our success but I am not upset he is leaving. He is an employee of the club, nothing more. If Pep feels that Bravo can be the difference then that's what I will support.

And waste everone's time in trying to learn a new system with season start looming? don't buy that one

Well said Terra. I asked the other day, about Joe, that knowing what you know about Pep, having been instructed to play in a certain way, why would you not carry out instructions? Either you didn't inderstand, we're incapable of following or believed that you were above what was asked.
I'm a fan of Joe's but none of those is acceptable and I cannot think of another reason why you would not perform as instructed

What Pep is doing, popular or not, is making it clear that it is his way or not. You choose, but that is the way we are going to play and if you don't want that, you leave with our best wishes.

At Barcelona it was clear that there was nobody, including Messi, who believed that he was too big. A humble, hard working collection of players working towards a common goal is what Pep wants. He will get it and it will be painful for some.

no I'm not. i just dont think you can judge a player on 45 minutes in a friendly.
Dude!

Seriously.

Let's say you open a business - a pizza joint for example.

Things are going well. Customers are coming in and love the pizza.

But one of your cashiers is struggling - for whatever reason he refuses to tick the "no cheese" box even when customers want no cheese.

So you talk the the problem employee. You tell him to tick the "no cheese" box when customers ask. You tell him that a TV special about your establishment is imminent and it's especially important to tick "no cheese" if the customer asks.

So what happens?

Customer asks for no cheese.

Box not ticked.

Manager thinks, "WTF?"

This is where we are at with Joe.

If Pep did tell Joe to do something different to Willie, he didn't tell the defence, who continued to split ready for the short pass: unlikely in the extreme.

I've no problem with Joe being dropped and replaced; but I do think it leaves a bit of a bad taste that someone who has been a loyal and passionate player, and a big part of our rise and success, will essentially leave via back door (or, to put it more bluntly, is being shoved).

I agree that sentimentality should never play a part in team selection, and I applaud Pep for that; but I'd still like to think that when a player of his status leaves City that there should be at least some positive 'fuss' made about it, and that sentimentality shouldn't go out of the window completely. He's always struck me as a bit of an arrogant sod on a personal level, but as a professional City player he's been top-drawer.

It just doesn't feel right and I think he deserves better, that's all (to emphasise again, I mean the way he is leaving the club, not the fact he is dropped).

I can understand Pep wanting a "sweeper keeper" but I'm sorry but I'm not buying into the idea that Joe can't improve on this.

You have to look at the overall picture and Joe Hart would walk into a lot of teams right now. Every keeper makes mistakes and people judging him on the Euros...well Sterling hasn't done bad has he?

There has to be other reasons of which we don't know as if Pep wanted to keep him he would do. Joe Hart on his day is one of the best one on one shot stoppers in the world - is goalkeeping all about kicking all of a sudden?

Pep doesn't like him it's obvious and I wouldnt be suprised if Gunn was picked or sub next week.

the problem is Hart doesn't want to improve himself.
Pep did gave him chance in pre-season game, but Hart chose to play his own style.
Pep builds his team from the back, everyone knew that.
and if the keeper and back 4 didn't play the way he want, then everything will fall apart.
Did you forget that Pellegrini also playing with high defensive lines, with Hart as GK.
Our defender always vulnerable and looks like comedy,
when the opponents launch counter attack and play through pass straight between defender,
there's huge gap between back 4 and Hart. he just don't know how to play sweeper keeper.
with Pep will only be here for just 3 years, it's not wise to gamble 1 year on Hart.

more importantly, if Mancini staying one more year before he get sacked,
Hart will be long gone.
there's huge rumor that Mancini try to sign Begovic on that summer,
only to get terminated after FA cup final.

Fans need to stop thinking that professional footballers feel the same we do about the club.
I have no doubt some have fantastic feelings for City, because they've made many great memories with us, but it's not the same crazy and blind and yes often stupid sort of love that we have.

So he's been with us 10 years. It's a long time by many footballers standards, it's sod all by fan standards.
If we we were relegated, and Liverpool came in for Joe, have absolutely no illusions that he'd stay with us - he'd be off in a shot. You and I wouldn't though, we truly are too emotionally attached. These lads aren't.

If anybody's been made redundant from a long standing job - it can really hurt, you do get 'attached' even to a damn workplace, but it's not love, it's not lifetime bonding love like we have as fans.

There is no 'deserve' - not really. Players sell their services to us, and we buy those services. When the deal no longer suits either one, we part company.

This will sound harsh too - but the club will drop you / us as a fan too without the blink of an eye. Can't quite afford your season ticket? no problem, we'll sell it to someone who can. Your 50 year loyalty counts for nothing. So let's not start with 'he deserves', it's nonsense.

How do you know how he feels about the club, do you mean you don't think he's a fan or cares about MCFC?... you really think that when he does leave he wont follow City and hope they win in the same way Micha does right now? We can't really say for sure but I genuinely believe Hart is the same as Micha might not have even started out a fan but well and truly is now, it's his club in his eyes. 10 years is significant for a player at any club these days why downplay that just to defend Pep, you don't need to defend Pep anyway he's just made a call he feels is best for the team that's it people will get over it. He knows the club better than most players that has value, he IS attached to the club he'd have gone ages ago if that wasn't the case. Does any of that mean he should stay no matter what, if he's stepped out of line or if the team needs something different? No but lets not change the narrative just to suit the end result.

You are right about him leaving for a bigger club if we were relegated, it's a job first, loyalties/fan aspect second(Micha was a good example to make he left for his own career but we didn't feel the need to question his loyalties or downplay them in such a way) and by the same measure if Hart got a bad injury or just turned shit over night he'd have been shipped off long ago too. Does any of that matter though? Not for me, it's a harsh world especially in football these days but it shouldn't change your own values, you can understand something but you don't have to like it or even agree with it. I still think we'd have been better off giving him one more season to fight for his place back but I'm not the manager and the decision has been made for more than footballing reason IMO so in the end I might even agree depending on that.

I'm thinking along the same lines as the manager after reading that.
